How to prevent headphone pads from wearing out? | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org

I own a pair of ATH-M50s and I am wondering how often I am going to have to replace the pads, or if I can make them last longer by any means. Will kneading/fluffing the pads help? Is there any products out there that will soften them up? All advice appreciated, thanks.

You could wipe it down once in a while. That'll definitely help them last longer.

What should I wipe them down with? A micro-fiber cloth? a paper-towl? Windex? I'm a novice at this

Just a wet cloth/paper towel would do. You just gotta get your face oils off your pad.

don't worry, M50 pads shouldn't be extremely expensive, if you wear them out after one or a few years, buy new ones
