Get some headphones/amps/sources/whatever and listen to them until you have an intimate and thorough knowledge of them.

Buy more gear, maybe sell some and repeat until you are able to draw conclusions on the differences and similarities between your gear.

Then when people ask for help on products you actually have experience with you can provide a knowledgeable and well backed reply.

You can do this the other way too, after having done some research and asking for some more information that you have been unable to gather so far. Then when you've decided what you want you can do the above and help out others.

Try and be as helpful and considerate as possible to others and interject the occasional humourous post on the members' lounge for good measure.

Try to share as much as you can, that way you can feel justified when you take from the community.

Avoid making enemies but instead try to respect everyone and understand that this hobby is subjective and each person has their own opinion even if it's different to your own experience.

Stand up for what is right and correct the wrong, just make sure you're sure of what you're talking about and are able to prove what you say.

Finally, don't rush. No one's going to be impressed by your post count, especially if it's obvious you're a spammer. Take it for the ride that it is and enjoy the vast wealth of knowledge that is available.
