How strictly do movie theaters enforce the ban on outside food?

I'm going to the movies for the first time in 6 years tonight (going to see 300), and I REALLY want to eat some beef jerky (favorite food) while watching. However, our movie theater doesn't sell any beef jerky, so I was thinking about just sneaking some in my pants (near my buttocks). I figure they wouldn't search me there. However, my brother told me that they have people at the projector that keep a general eye out for behavior and outside food. Is there any truth to this? I'd hate to get busted in the middle of the movie for smuggling beef jerky, and also possibly end up ruining some of the movie for others.

What have your experiences been with outside food? I'm thinking about just putting the jerky in a zip-lock bag and hiding it inside my jacket for the movie. Any other ideas (I COULD buy some of their popcorn, eat it, and then store the bagged jerky inside the popcorn bag...but then I'd have to pay up the butt for their expensive popcorn)?

Wow, you need to entertain yourself more often. Don't sweat the jerky Azure. Just tuck it out of sight when you're buying your ticket, once you're in the theater no one will bother you. If it were an item they sold they might possibly get upset, but for an item they don't even offer forget about it. I take peanut butter M&Ms into the theater all the time, because I like them better than Reeces Pieces. Nobody's ever bothered me about it.

lol dude keep it cool and you'll be fine! when i go with my friends, we always stuff every pocket with food and drinks. we put bottles in girls' bags... you just gotta keep it cool and dont worry about it. if any1 is dumb enough to come up to you during the movie, just stuff your mouth with it and offer some to that person.

I don't go to movies often, but on several occasions I've walked into the movies with a soda pop in hand and have never been repremanded. Next to the AMC that i go to most there is a Target. They have a huge stand of "Movie Theater" candy for sale near the register. Instead of $5 for a box of Whoppers you pay like $.99 or something.

You'll be fine. Back in high school, I used to bring a backpack filled with Chinese food for all of my friends when we went out to the movies. I'm talking about 4 full entrees and appetizers. You'll have nothing to worry about with a little jerky. Remember, most of the guys that are working there are either the same age or younger than you. They won't care and the theater isn't going to care if one person is munching on some jerky.

I just wait until the movies come out on dvd to see them. I usually don't like going to the movies because you pay for ONE viewing. So, what do you do if you end up having to go number 1 or 2 (I'd hate to pay to see a movie and have to miss some of it due to nature calling)? Plus, I am usually the guy who asks all the questions when it comes to movies (Why is he with him? I thought he was the bad guy? Where did that other guy go?); with DVD I can just pause/rewind if I miss anything (while with the movies I have to continue watching in a confused state).

Well, I'm off!

I bring drinks in all the time. They won't even question large bulges in weird locations (At least not at my theater), let alone.. pat you down.

If you see me at the theater please make sure to sit out of earshot.

I'm the guy who pays to hear the movie, not the commentary of others.

Oh and turn off your cell phone please.
