How much more bass / lower end impact does the HD650 have over the HD600?

Alright, I been listening to my pair of MarkL Modded / J$ padded D2000's and I keep comparing and contrasting to my HD600's. I love the sound of the HD600's but they're severely sound lacking in the low end (I listen to a lot of hip hop, dnb, bass heavy music). I was wondering if moving up to the HD650 would help any for my musical tastes? I realize that the sennheiser's are more suited towards classical, live instrumental records. Is there any open can out there with more bass response? It seems like the HD650 could be my last hope.

Any help / opinions would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

I was looking at the headroom frequency graphs and it showed the hd650 has a similar bass response to the D2000. While I"m sure that's not definitely true since one is closed and the other is open backed how far off from the truth is it? I could definitely use some opinions because buying the HD650's are another $300 that I shouldn't be spending.. at least on headphones.

Perhaps the DT 990 is what you're looking for.

Ran through my head, however.. Unsure myself how it stacks up against the HD650 in terms of bass.

The D2000 is definitely bassier than the HD650 to memory

D2000 has very bloated, uncontrolled bass, fairly similar to an under-powered HD650.

With a good amp that has enough high voltage swing, they should be clean sounding with strong, fast bass. Before somebody asks, no, a cheap tube amp is NOT the answer.

How about quantity wise? Does the HD650 have a noticeable increase in bass quantity and impact over the HD600?

Apparently so, but they were nothing compared to my D5000's when it came to bass response. How much bass are you looking for?

Perhaps you should look into and an Ultrasone like the Pro900s?

Well I like the bass of my MD2000's with J$ pads (the J$ pads toned down the bass a bit). I don't necessarily want as much as much bass as that phone (while it would be nice to have it in an open headphone but it doesn't seem possible). I just want an open headphone with a bit bassier response.
