I started off abouth three months ago with just senn hd600 and was using a crappy av reciever to power them. I went past the $30k mark about two weeks ago....

I thought I would stop but no instead I bought a earmax pro anniversary, hp-1's, hp-2's, hpa-1, 2X325's, rs-1. And that's it I think. And there's still a wadia to try out yet, Also when I bought my EMP anniv. the dealer asked me to try a audio aero cd 24/192 mk2 he has in stock. Oh, and I would like to try out the PS-1. Nobody is that stupid...but I am thinking about it

I think I need to ask one of the mods to ban me just to stop me getting any more ideas.

Good luck for that... really. I think you can do it, though.

I've accepted that I'll never stop for good (even if I get a good speaker setup) but have made a 'discipline system' for myself where I place headphones on a lower priority to other, more vital things in my life, monthly donations especially.

That allows me to purchase new equipment every once in a while without much guilt.

I started with a SGD$250 budget (US$150 approx.) and ended up short of my budget with the HD280. I wasn't happy with the sound at first and came here and learnt of burn-in. Then I bought a budget amp. Then I decided to try the Grado sound and bought the MS1, then I wanted a time-trusted reference and I bought the HD600. Including shipping charges and an equilizer along the way, I've overspent by about 600%.

Once again, good luck and try to come up with a 'discipline system' or something effective!

Budget, what's a budget?

Oh well. When my good-ol denons died, i thought that I'll check out grados. Easy to drive out of a portable or my laptop. Instead I bought:
AKG K501
Modded Tushi by voodoochile
Pimeta by voodoochile (shameless plug: selling that one...)
Audiogeek nitrogens interconnects.

Then I thought: Wouldn't it be nice with a portable rig aswell? So I bought this:
iPod 20gb
Ety 4s
Ray Samuels SR-71
Custom built cable dock connector --> straight 3.5 mm plug, built by the cable pro, based on panorama cable.
Audioquest 3.5 --> rca adapter

So, all in all, I guess I've spent somewhere around 1000$ (since August

I wonder who the non-others would be. Might be an interesting thread with zero replies.

i was looking for a new computer to buy and was asking myself, should i get a decent soundcard since i listen alot to music while im upgrading my computer anyway? So i started to look around on the web to see what soundcard there is out there. Then i found this place. That was a month ago.

Now i have bought corda prehead mk2 SE + HD650 + Zu mobius + Emu1212M for about 2000 Euro.

And yes, i still have my old computer but now i can atleast listen to crapy mp3 music with dignity!

My 1st purchase was a Beyer DT531 for listening to decent music.
I though I might get a Rega ear for it.
This was in Feb-March
Since then I have spent close to 5G's but now Ihave reached a level from which I probably won't be upgrading anymore.
Only 1 thing beckons after this
Either a Balanced Dynahi or a Balanced HR-2

I set very specific budget limits for specific purchases a year in advance based upon a wealth of difference research data: professional HI-FI magazines, on line forums, etc. Those I know that I can afford. Yet, I'm flexible because I know that I have a very severe music addiction through audiophile headphones and whatever I just happen to purchase is ok...so long as I cover the important mandatory expenses: DSL repayments, auto repairs, gas, food, etc.

You got to take the long term view. This is a hobby that will probably last me for the next several years if not my entire lifetime. So, think about that when you go spending money on headphones and music.
