Have free debit/interac cards caught on in the States? Last I knew check writing, credit cards, and cash were pretty much what people used, at least in Washington and Oregon.

I always carry emergency cash ($10-20) but rarely use it. Almost always debit or credit card. Cash gets too messy with change and my pockets are already full.

I once paid for a 60 cent donut at Tim Horton's with my debit card.

It varies. Usually I try to keep around $50 for "just in case" purposes. I use my cc for just about everything. It's just more convenient to use that and pay if off every month via online banking.
