How much are the D777 & D-E905 worth?

Netsurfer,
Long time no see!. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that you'll be delighted to the 515. Don't forget to try hooking it up with an amp. The line out is top notch and ability to adjust DSPs setting during the connection of the line out adds lots of punch to your music. It has 2 DSP modes: bassboost (1, 2, 3) and DSS (1,2,3). The DSS is featured first in the D-555.

Dammit, you guys keep this up and I'm going to have to call my mom and ask her to ship me that old 515. Then my wife will shake the box and say "What's this?" And then she'll say "Another discman? How many pairs of ears do you have?" And I'll say "But honey, this is my discman. My mom was just keeping it for me for a while." And then she'll look cross and I'll be cooking my own dinner for a while.

Gee. Thanks, guys.

Duncan,
it is my experience that no matter the amount of money that people have been getting for an item, when it comes time to sell that identical item, it will never go for nearly as much.

Seriously though, on ebay I would expect somewhere in the neighborhood of $60-$100 each, going by my own experience.

Is it worth it to you to sell two pcdps for about $150 or $200 that you most likely won't be able to find again? I dunno... if I were you I'd save up my money and keep the pcdps. ... And reconsider the Sony

I'm starting to agree with you Driftwood...

Well, if the ETY ER4Ps that i'm getting tomorrow light my fire, then the CD3000s won't be on my hitlist anymore...

I'm stopping the boat if I'm satisfied with the ETYs.. the pinnacle of my setup

Duncan,

Please, let me know your opinion on the ETY 4P. I'm expecting a good review from you. Don't sell the D-E905.

Purk, i once had a D-311 which in fact had all the sound modes on D-515. But D-515 was much more expensive than D-311 when they first came out in the year 1992. I don't quite like the sound of D-311 cause i think it lacks midrange. I hope that D-515 is much better.

Actually D-515 is the second most expensive discman made by Sony, D-555 is the first. In the year 1991, Sony introduced D-J50, which was the same price in Japanese Yen as D-515. D-J50 is a very very slim discman. Don't let it slip when you see one.

Netsurfer,
I probably have too many discman. But the D-J50 is simply a mavelous discman. Given its thinkness...probably about the same as the D-E925, it should be remarkable.
As for the D-515, I like it a lot and really think it has a beautiful midrange. About the same as my D-303. But, I probably let the D-J50 goes since I have too many Discman already. I don't know if the J50 comes with remote or not. I saw a picture of it with Sony mdr-E555 earphone. I also have the E555 earbuds as well. They sound decent, but nothing spectacular.

As far as I know, there is very little difference...

The E900 was for the Far Eastern market, and the E905, for the Western... they are cosmetically identical, and I believe there was even a discussion once, where it was shown that the internal components are the same...

The only one difference that there could potentially be... The E900 afaik comes with NH-9WM batteries (silver and orange) and the E905 comes with the slightly more powerful NH-14WMs (black and orange)

I don't know of any other differences

But... what do you think to the sound Acid??

Jun 28, 2002 at 7:07 PM Post #43 of 58
Haven't listened to it that much since I'm at work. I charged the batteries and just listened for like 2 minutes with my Beyer 770 headphones which are too much for the Sony to handle. Mine came with the more powerful 14 batteries. I'll have to get back to you on the sound.

Duncan,
I'm confirming that our machine (900/905) have the same battery, the NH-14wm. The earphone is sony mdr-e741mp.

Acid,
The grossy paint job on the D-E900/905 is much more beautiful than my gray D-777. Don't forget to comment on the D-E905.

I think probably the difference between the 900 and the 905 is the AC Adaptor that comes with each of them being different in voltage to comply with the different areas of the world.
