IMHO, make that "anyone who has less than 10 headphones that are universally liked or loved by us Head-Fiers - or anyone whose main listening headphone is one of what we call 'crap-phones' even though he/she owns a much better-sounding pair - has a real problem and has no business on Head-Fi".

Nine, yes, but from what I've read here...those are some damned good 'phones and could be considered the equivalent of at least 15.3 pairs of lesser headphones.

edit: I've got a pair of sony mdr-7506 and beyerdynamic dt 770 right now, and used to have a pair of etymotic ER-4P up until this morning.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Quite the appropriate response in light of the upcoming release of The Two Towers!!! But the question is, which headphone are you referring to?? R10, Orpheus, Stax Omegas???

i am another nube. I had only a pair or Koss PortaPro's when I first come here. Now I have Senn MX500, ATH-EM7, and Sony EX70SL's on order. I mostly listen to music on the go. Thinking about a over-the-ear pair like Grado SR60. I don't need ultra-high end stuff because most of my music is MP3-format anyway.

I don't have anywhere local to try on decent headphones so I'm gonna have buy alot more stuff to try it out

How much are these?

Koss Portapro
Sony MDR-F1
Grado SR 80
Grado SR 225
Grado SR 325
AKG K 501
Etymotic ER-4X
Sennheiser HD 600
Stax Gamma
Electrostatics I (self-built)
Electrostatics II (self-built)

All these I use more or less... anyway: who needs so many headphones... (shame...

PS: I didn't mention the crap I'm too lazy to trash.

JaZZ,

Just having fun with you, I have started down this dark road, picking up a pair of Senn 280 pros this week, my wife is already saying 'You want to spend HOW much on headphones!?!'
