I depend almost totally on internet radio to find my new music at this point. I'd been in the doldrums for years as far as new music goes, which made me quite unhappy since I was a dj and music columnist in college and music had been quite important to me. With the internet I've been able to find stuff that fits my sensibilities that I'm sure I would not have encountered otherwise.
I depend on some of the top alternative "urban" dj's at BBC, such as Gilles Peterson and Benji B, for new stuff that I always find interesting. BBC pretty much covers the bases in terms of styles and all shows are available for on demand listening. I also like KCRW out of Santa Monica.
I've also found alot of site with playlists, mixes, and links to various stations. For what I'm interested in at the moment www.beyondjazz.net is quite good, but the principle must apply to other genres.
For electronica, a useful site is www.bleep.com. It's and very good specialist mp3 store, but their standout feature is their preview system, which is the best I've seen online. You can scroll through the entire track and listen to any portion you want. However, the playback fades out after about 30 seconds so you can't use it to listen to a whole tune. Sound quality is very good as far as such things go. I find the clips that are provided on most sites to be too short to get a decent idea of a song, but bleep's system works for me.
