I just try on a lot of different frames and bring my family with me. Between myself, the fam, and the optician, I've always ended up with something good.
I went out and tried on a bunch of frames and took pictures of myself in them. That way you can get a better feel for how they look on you, as well as the opinions of others (e.g. hot girls)

When you get the really large frames, they often press against or cut into the pads in ways it shouldn't, which is really annoying.
Very good advice. I ran into this problem with my new glasses round the same time I bought my AD2000's. At first I thought it was the headphone, then I realized I had pain with my other headphones too. Eventually realized the thicker legs were the cause. so...
~thin frame + thick legs = no.
~thick frames (which usually means thick legs) = no.
~if you have thick frames, with thin legs, which might look weird, you should be good to go.
