Well, if Alex brings the Lotus, he won't be stuffing anything in there...

Maybe I can twist his arm to make sure he's 'able to make it'.

Looks good Shelly.

My gear is a certainty now. I'll most likely bring my balanced TPA Darwin source selector. It makes it easy for people to hook up and compare balanced gear with the turn of a knob.

I can help with snacks too, if needed.

The Gamma2/Y2 DAC is definitely going to be there. I've been listening to it for a couple of weeks and for its size and cost it is amazing. The Mini3 and CK2III should be done by then easily if I don't blow anything up (boards are done, just a bit of casework). The M^3 is a maybe at this point but I'll try.

Sounds like some pretty amazing equipment is going to be at the meet... I'm looking forward to it.

Cool! I already sent the list to Ken, so hopefully he can change the Gamma2/Y2 DAC to a definite instead of a maybe when he puts it up.

First post edited to add gear list. Thanks, Shelly!!!

If anyone has any additions or corrections, please send me a PM or email and I'll get it changed.

Wow, that's a pretty impressive list. I'm not sure one day will be enough time for me.

I usually only check the DIY forums and just found this thread. I'm student at Rice so this would be really close and I've always wanted to go a meet. What exactly goes on? Just putting out equipment and listening to each other's gear?

Yep, that and meeting other "cool" (ummm... is that the word) people. It is great fun!!! You should come, there will be a lot of good gear there. You can also talk with some of Texas' finest DIY masters: Marc and Al. You may also get to see something catch on fire.

By the way, what college are you in? I am an faculty associate at Brown.

Yes, it's very informal. So informal in fact, that it may appear disorganized to the untrained eye. Don't let this deceive you. Every burst of flame is actually carefully choreographed.

For example, here is my plan. Set up my rig. Distract Shelly while I plug her HD800's into my amp. Listen to them until she notices and wants them back. Distract her again (it's easy... just point and tell her Al has new stuff over there). Rinse and repeat.

We will also eat some snacks and draw for a door prize or two. Then we will invade some local eatery and talk about the fire of the day and the drag race between s1rrah and Gollie's computers.

It's the only place in Houston where you can audition this kind of gear and talk to the owners of some of the best rigs in Texas. So y'all come now, ya hear?

@ Gollie ...

Bring SuperPi and we'll throw down.

I'll tentatively plan to go then. If I make it, I'll bring an Opus DAC, a single ended bijou, and a k701 but it seems like all those are more or less covered already.

I'm a freshman in Will Rice!

Great!

By the way, there is no single-ended Bijou or Opus DAC on our list and I would love to hear that setup! Also, pabbi1's is balanced and does not have SE output (I am guessing) so we cannot try our sad little SE headphones on that beast.

See ya in a couple of weeks.

Welcome to Rice (and Houston if you are new to the city)!
