I need to buy some hookup wire to finish my CKKIII and for future projects. I don't need really high quality stuff, just something better than the normal junk. That would be SPC then, no?

My main feature I'm looking for is I want to buy it in many different colors. Brown, green, red, black, yellow, and blue, namely.

Do any of you know of somewhere I can buy something that meets these requirements?

Doh! How could I forget, I've seen that mentioned so many times.

What is a suitable AWG for this application? I'll be using it for a CKKIII and a Twisted Pear Buffalo in the near future.

250ft 20 awg hook up wire any color or ANY QUANTITY - eBay (item 200103331877 end time Feb-12-09 06:16:38 PST)
Fast shipping, each color comes on it's own spool. Nothing fancy, just reasonably priced wire in your choice of colors.
I bought 25' of each of ten colors. He has other gauges also.

I bought this also, it's pretty nice stuff. Again, fast shipping.
navships is also highly recommended.
Mogami 2534, $1.10 per foot from Markertek.
There are many more.

I like 22ga for all hookup wire tasks.

I like 19AWG Kimber Kable TCSS Teflon insulated stranded OFHC Copper. It's very easy to strip and will bend without breaking like solid core wire. On top of that, it doesn't seem to impart any colorations or other audible artifacts. In other words, it's very neutral.

Does anyone know the sellers of these listings?
the item number has expired, and I am interested in getting 10x25 spools of different colors

I suppose, but it's expensive if you want to have different colors... rather than a large 1000' spool

I found that in your old serial and printer cables (and network type cables) you will find lots of nice thin colored wires. Pretty stiff though.

I doubt that the quality of such wire would meet the discerning tastes of some people here...CAT5 certainly isn't cryo-treated and silver-core.
