I first setup the Red as a DDC with a USB cable from my PC to the Red.
Then i2S to the Holo Dac.

Then just disconnected the USB cable from PC and rebooted the Red. Type B (Red end)
Then it was in Streamer Mode and still outputted to my Dac with i2S.
I had the network cable plugged in the whole time.
Then I could connect a external usb Drive (Samsung t7 I had here) to the USB port (Type A I think) and it was seen in MoOde.
Could then select it and browse the files and play them.

So only ever used i2S output from the Red.

Hello Rocky…can you confirm what USB type you used to connect an external hard drive? On the red the type “A” slot is labeled as an output but the way most hard drives or thumb drives hook up is through this connection. Does it really have 2 way communication like most usb type “A” connections when used in streamer only mode?

From the manual: “DIP switch [4] sets I2S_MCLK frequency, ON is 45.1584M/49.152M, OFF is 22.5792M/24.576M”.

Has anybody tried both settings on de Spring 3 or May? Which master clock is recommended?

I just found out, that Holo Red won't recognize Rotel Michi P5 USB DAC.

Is here anyone who has Rotel gear?
