Holo Audio Red Streamer

N100H is like 3x the price of RED.
Matrix X-Spdif is DDC only, no streamer, no LPSU.

Whats wrong with Raspberry CM4? Only CPU and RAM. All other are custom made by Holo Audio.

For 999€ the RED is pretty good deal or bang for buck. No dedicated app is pro, also CM4 is a pro, tons of software is a pro, no cons come to mind. I would say another app would be con. Browser is the way to go. I'm very happy with the sound from LMS to RED and exactly what I was looking for. :)
I see that you are running LMS with your Holo Red. I have the same setup, but I just connected my Red and now everytime I start playing a file, I get a loud pop (like dropping the needle on the record). Are you getting anything like that?

I can't get HQPlayer to see my Holo Red in the Output Device (NetworkAudioPlayer selected).
Both the server and Red are on the same network and Roon has no problem seeing the server, whether it is on the same computer, or a different one.
HQPlayer sees other PC NAA clients just fine, but it can never find the Red.

I have both Roon and HQPlayer NAA checked in the settings. Do I need to do anything else? I tried adding UPnP (in case it would use it for device discovery), but it didn't solve the issue.

Any idea?

Is NAA checked in settings page?

Do you have the correct output device selected on the Red's settings page?
You have no Holo devices showing up at all in the selection box?
Do you have network audio selected in the Generic heading in HQPlayer configuration?
You may have to hit the apply button on the HQPLayer configuration page to refresh the selections for Network Audio backend.

Yes, I did all that :)
The PC NAA client showed up immediately (albeit it was running on the same PC as the server).

I will try with my Pi2 Mercury running RopieeeXL and see if it is a Red issue or a me issue…
First time trying HQPlayer.

HQPlayer doesn't see my Pi2 Mercury running RopieeeXL either...
It sees the network audio daemon running on another PC just fine, so I'm not sure what's going on.
Have you followed the HqPlayer setup guide where it says to make sure you have the network icon selected at the top of the main HQP screen? You are running the HQP desktop application correct?

Yes, I followed HQPlayer quick start guide.
Roon sees HQPlayer just fine (both when it's running on my PC or on my Mac mini where Roon server resides). I enabled the network icon so Roon can control it.

Now some development: I tried the iFi Zen Stream in NAA-only mode and at first it didn't show up, but after restarting my Wifi Access Point - to which both the Red and Zen are connected via RJ-45 (albeit one with fiber media converters in the path) - the Zen showed up in HQPlayer! Still no Red to be seen, though (tried with a USB DAC connected or the DDC selected, no difference). The iFi shows up with or without FMC in the path, so that's not the issue.

I run an M1 MM for HQP and a Roon Rock server for Roon so somewhat similar. I have Red, M1MM HQP, and Roon Rock all connected on my network via Ethernet. I did have to restart HQP Desktop and my Red a few times when initially setting everything up to get them to communicate.

Are you running the most current fw on your Red? Mine updated this week and kept the connections afterwards. I have had firmware updates before due unusual things with network appliances.

Hello! I've been following this thread with interest and I finally received my Red this week but I've run into a few issues that I don't understand. I apologize if this post is long but I would love to get these issues worked out and it may help others as well. I'm using MinimServer 2 on my NAS (Synology) and I'm using the Esoteric Sound Stream & Linn (iPadOS) apps as control points. The Red is connected to an Ayre QX-5/20 DAC via USB.
1) Using Red OS I can play music using the Esoteric app but the Linn app doesn't work. What's confusing is that my ultraRendu, which also uses mpd/Upmpdcli, works with every control point I've tried, including the Linn app. I'm at a loss to explain this or find a way to fix it. It seems in UPnP mode, despite being OpenHome, the Red is very limited in the number of control points that are usable.
2) I can't get RoPieeeXL to work at all. Installation appears to be OK, I can configure things in the web interface but I can't play anything and the light on front of the Red flashes red. I know that @GoldenOne had RoPieeeXL working on his review sample.
3) In Red OS it looks like the DSD Dop and Native settings are reversed. With Native selected, playing DSD64, my DAC displays 352. When Dop is selected the display shows DSD1X which usually indicates native playback.

Thanks for reading!

Ordered today. I have my music stored on Qnap Nas. Is it possible to add this local source of files to the Holo Red ad play music without any additional device, with their operational system from sd card delivered with device? Probably there is also possibility to use different system f.e. Moode software and it that case which „i2s named device” shall be choosen in audio setings (there is missing Holo)?

I am using the Red in Streamer mode with MoOde player OS.
It enables me to use a USB external HDD plugged directly into the Red.
Plus i2S out to my Holo Dac
Could you please show me your „audio settings” in Moode used with Holo Red?
