Holo Audio Red Streamer

A decent power cable, around 300usd. No fuse change but i will try that for sure! And now HQ, player, just the factory settings.
I´m now expert on digital, this dsd setting, what is it? sorry for being a nube..
At least the power cable is better than standard.
I don't have a Red myself (yet), but I'm thinking about it. I know from other people (in forums) that the difference between factory settings and individual are very big. Apparently HQP's own NAA and the file made especially for the Red is supposed to be massively better than the one from Holo itself (sounds logical so far).
As far as fuses are concerned, the SR Purple is certainly a very good choice. I read about someone who replaced the Purple with a Master. It's actually quite expensive, but the difference is said to have made a big difference in the Red.

Basically (in my opinion and experience), current is generally extremely important. Nothing works without electricity anyway. That's where it starts.

By the way: is anybody here, that hat the chance zu test a "upgraded" Red (fuse, cable, HPQ NAA) versus a Hifi Rose RS130? I know, it's big difference in price, but I think I read somewhere that someone was able to test this and the difference was not that great. Unfortunately I can no longer find it

I Will try this in a while because I’m looking for a new streamer in my main system as well:)

Not available for iOS
? The Holo Red has a Pi4 core system= linux. You can drive/configure the os with the web interface. So it is iOS compatible. Like the Red OS

Does it alow switching betwen spotify conect / roon / upnp automatically?
I am not sure what you mean. From my memory, with the Red OS you can choose the software/protocol you want to use (Spotify connect + UPnP + LMS...). You have to check it in the web interface.

But, as Gentooplayer, you can't use the softwares simultaneously. You can choose you upnp/dlna player first for exemple, but if you want to switch to Spotify, it is better to stop the music in the other player before using Spotify.

Sometimes, it may cause bugs to switch from one player to another and you have to restart the players or the OS.

I am using Gentooplayer, it is a very good OS, far better from the Red OS I think. Easy to switch the different players (HQ Player / upnp-dlna players / Spotify connect). Librespot is a little unstable, but it depends on your configuration (kernels, profile, options,...) and easy to restart.

Hi again, so Gentooplsyer OS replaces RED OS, How do you get it on your SD card? I’m referring to a iOS App change to control my RED OS via my iPhone and I’m sure JPlay sounds better than Mconnect but I have no clue how this can be.

I use it as a roon endpoint. To install gentooplayer just put it on a micro sd card and put it in the red, then boot and you have a web interface to play with plenty of parameters on the OS

Yes, easy to install with Balena Etcher. Nevertheless, Gentooplayer is not free and you better be comfortable with computers setup :)

But so far better than others OS (and I tried several OS).

No problem to use JPlay, it is an UPnP/dlna Player. Like Mconnect

first of all, the red os does not have any special naa file -- it's a standard hqp naa application. however, it isn't the most recent version. miska has stated that he thinks it's always best to use the latest version to avoid problems. frankly, i couldn't hear a difference between the version of naa in red os and the most recent version in hqp os. to me, that's not surprising as the naa application doesn't really do anything.

having said that, others have said they heard a difference. i haven't heard anyone say the difference is massive.
