Hifiman new Single DD flagship: Hifiman Svanar

How is the overall signature? Would you consider it an all-rounder or more of a genre specialist?

Still curious, but not yet ready to take the plunge!

Edit - nevermind, I saw your impressions from a few posts back.
It is on the neutral side, so can be an all rounder but it somehow doesn't have the dynamic bass, unless driven from a very capable source .

This an excellent review; I couldn't agree more on how source and tip dependent they are.

Out of LP6 Gold, I hear dynamic range compression and peaks of poorly mastered recording.

I'm still waiting for balance cable to arrive before I finalize my review, as I feel the stock cable is an actual bottle neck.

H

How do they compare to iems within it's price bracket?

I think they comare favoritely, the comfort is simply nice, and the signature has that rich yet natural / neutral signature that HIFIMAN traditionally has. They have the resolution / clarity to stand out in the market, especially when you want a honest presentation of acoustic instruments where I feel they excel.

How different from RE2000?

This is the best tuned, fit IEM Hifiman has produced. RE2000 favoured classical, Jazz musical. Svanar still excel in those genre, however it is less genre specific than RE2000.

Svanar in this short period I've owned it has managed to make its way to my top 5 picks.
Ah, I see that you also have Dita perpetua, both of those are super comfortable and I also like both...

How different from RE2000?

It is a really refined signature, it is somehow similar, has a neutral / natural tuning, but @audionewbi pointed out really well that Svanar is more versatile.

The bass is more rounded, deeper, upper treble has better extension and air while the whole sound is less fatiguing, it sounds richer.

Hope this makes a bit of sense.

Yes I’m very impressed by Svanar - the best all rounder DD I’ve heard, plus incredibly comfortable. A wonderful set.

Some of you might have experienced some sharp sound with a lot of crescendo in music, or in general, distortion and excessive brightness in mids and upper mids. It is 100% caused by the cable.
I swapped over the cable with half a dozen lines I own, and each changed the sound on Svanar, so cable experimentation is to the user. What I noticed in all of that cable was that the sonic anomaly disappeared.

Currently, I'm utterly enjoying the Svanar paired with the Rhapsodio RSD hybrid.

How do you use the adapters for connecting 3rd party cables? - I had a look but they made no sense to me!

I’ve not had any issues with any sharpness etc but curious to try balanced.

The issue is with the female connector. I don't know whether you are willing to do it, but you literally need to shave some of it off.
