Try the reset first, then if it still doesn't work, better wait for the new firmware - but if the new firmware doesn't fix your unit's issues, you might want to contact customer service.

the steps that i outlined above is for the hard reset. the hole near the power button is just to rest your unit when it freezes - but doesn't do a hard reset

I'm not sure I can actually hear a difference between HD and Vintage modes on my HM-650. Sometimes I think I can, but it could be a placebo effect. Is this really such a subtle difference (HD seems subjectively a little "airier", unless I am imagining it), or should there be a more obvious difference (and my unit is faulty)?

Im in the market for this player again after deciding on the DX90. All i have to do is sell my Ipod classic as Ive seen the prices fro these have gone significantly in the plus. I could probably almost buy it straight up. so if anyone is interested in a Mint condition 7th gen ipod classic just PM me or it you want to trade this for it.

I just tested hm650 n dx90 fr my country local store
Now I dunno which one to buy
Hm650 - have very powerful amp can give more full sound n warm vocal sound
But is lack of USB DAC , and bulky.

Dx90 - I found more linear n smooth sounding but not powerful as hm650
But it can be as USB DAC n smaller size

BTW I only tested with my m40x my friend say this is overkill
