I thought the world was fresh out of PCM1704 chips and that hey were going to have to re-reuse the chips from their old trade-ins to make the HM-1000.

Hi there, just a couple things we would like to point out in regards to the “measurements” recently. First the HM1000 has yet to officially launch. We did make some available to a select few R2R2000 customers as a special preview, with the understanding that the firmware is unfinished. The person who has posted his measurements is not someone we are aware of and thus cannot verify the unit in questions provenance nor its operational status. We currently expect the HM1000 to officially launch towards the end of Q3 2020 and at such time we will release official measurements for the HM1000.

HFM just released a new app that for me made a huge difference. It is now in beta phase. I wish I can talk more about it, but it is totally different from what the alpha app was.

Hi-fi man decided to adopt the design of HMK to it's black and red prince.
After seen and using the new app design, I'm curious about the hmk red.
With usage of only two pcm1702, there will be more room to focus on the amp/psu.
I can't justify the price of all this 4k+ dap, but I can't deny how good PCM sounds on this old R2R chips.

Now that you mentioned it..that makes sense as I didn't know what it was before. Couldn't translate.

It's great to finally see the HM1000 in action on a video.....

...just I am just finding it a little strange how unprofessionally it is made and then released on the official Hifiman channel?
Maybe it's just me, but if I was responsible for Hifiman`s marketing, I would have at least chosen a clean table to take it on and edit out the weird background sounds ...

Well, anyway I am exited to finally learn more about this device and its app!

At least the app looks better implemented than that for the R2R2K!

Is this a 4k device? Looks like a bluetooth amp to me though.

The app is called „remote“ - so I guess this shows it will be (also) used to play content that is stored on the player?
