HifiMan HE6 V2 Adorama

A little bit, sure, but only at first. It's quite easy once you get the hang of it and have a thin tool to reattach the clips. I've swapped pads hundreds of times on HFM headphones and I barely have to think about it anymore.

Additionally, I do think it's worth the hassle on the 6se/v2 in particular. Some people really like the stock pads, but I think the stock pads are in the "okay, not great" category and they hold the headphone back a bit.

But, that being said, it's not life changing, make or break difference. I would still hang onto my pair if the stock pads were as good as it got. So if you don't want to mess with them, I totally get it.
Pads make a big difference. The Psli pads are not good. - they were designed for the Sundara, and in typical HFM mode use them on any round cup.

To install you need the ring thing one the pad, I lightly squeeze them, line up with the divots press in. If all aligned turn one way or another to lock

Im using these comically large pads I got from this ebay listing. they are super comfy like Audeze pads. They def provide slightly more sub bass and wider soundstage. They sit very loosely on the rings though and was a PITA to get on bc of that, but worth it in the end.

Im going to give the DCA Ether Angled pads a go as well

Ya my original owner replaced the strap with the audeze suspension strap, which is still not my favorite. I do wish i had the v1 strap.
I have the Audeze suspension strap conversion on my V2, and also own a V1. I personally find the Audeze headband much more comfy. YMMV of course.

I've got the V1s and I just bought a pair of V2s to try out various mods on because the Open Box price and Spring Sale at Hifiman made them a ridiculously good deal. I'm trying to decide between putting them on the Hifiman Enhanced Comfort headband like my HE560s have or trying out the Audeze Strap. Any chance you have an opinion on which you think would be more comfy?

I haven't tried an Audeze strap, but I use the New Enhanced Comfort strap on my v2. My only complaint is that the materials feel/look cheap. But its comfort lives up to its name.

I enjoy the fit on my HE560s so I'm leaning that way basically because it's a known quantity to me. Knowing me I'll probably end up ordering both. 😂

Thanks for the answer/opinion. I appreciate it. 👍😎

V1 cups don't swivel, fuggetaboutit

560 headband is where the party's at IMO, cheap and mega comfy

Definitely. The lack of swivel has never prevented me from getting a decent seal with my V1s, but it does limit the comfort a bit compared to my HE560 V1.1s which are supremely comfortable. I ended up ordering the enhanced comfort band and the Audeze strap just for the sake of satisfying my curiosity, but with how much I enjoy the comfort band, I'll be quite surprised if I don't end up going with it on the HE6se v2s.

Thanks for the input! 👍😎

Grabbed Audeze lookalike headband from Aliexpress.
Pros: Looks good, comfortable, easy and fast install in stock form, some extra screws included
Cons: Way way too much clamp: steel must be bent quite a bit to loosen it, needs a screwdriver to adjust height, strap sits too close (touches) steel bars, can and must be shortened, price almost 70 euros

Yeah, he has a good point - the V1 headband is comfy but lack of swivel is a slight issue for me comfort-wise as well and the Audeze solves that. The only issue I have with the HFM version is that goofy squared off metal frame. top. Not sure why they didn't make it rounded..............

I don't mind the looks so much. Obviously, I'd prefer the rounded look given the choice, but the enhanced comfort headbands really do live up to the name and it's not like I'm wearing them out in pulbic anyways. Regardless, I've got the Audeze strap setup coming too so I'll give it a shot and if the comfort and fit are comparable then I'll go with it and if they aren't, I'll go with the Hifiman headband which I already have. Hell, depending on how the Audeze strap works out, I might replace the hybrid headband on my HE6se v1s with the option I don't use on the V2s.

I've got a bunch of other tuning/dampening mods I want to try as well and I've already got a pair of hex grills waiting for them. I've got hex grills on all my Hifiman round cup models, but I'd say the HE6se V1 has benefitted the second most of them all from the grill swap with the HE560 V1s benefitting the most.

Edit: Spelling and clarity.

Anybody listened to the 68 ohm version of HE6SEV2? I read this in an ad by a seller named Home Audio Central on ebay today for HE6SEV2 supposedly bought directly from Hifiman:

"Arrived direct from Hifiman with our latest shipment. These are the newer 68 ohm version (there's a 50 ohm original older model too)."

---------------------------

The only other information I could find was in the discussion of the HE6SE at the audioscience review we
bsite where one member said this:

"I did some checking and you can tell the 68 ohm from the 50 ohm versions by the serial number and weight.

68 ohm 2204122xx 512 grams 9 digit S/N
50 ohm 220423xx 510 grams 8 digit S/N

They are definitely two different versions denoted by serial number under the pads. 9 digits for the 68 ohm and 8 digits for the 50 ohm. They're cosmetically identical, the driver cover when the pads off are identical too. I have an accurate postal scale, so the 68 ohm is 2 grams heavier. These are both new, so I'm guessing it's the drivers to cause the weight difference. I've got another one coming in this week to check out, have to remove the pads anyway to register the warranty. I tested with the same factory cable on each just for consistency. Going to check and see if any other their other models have this ohm rating on their drivers."
