Worth trying as replacement for stock cable: FAAEAL Sundara cable under $20 on amazon. Best sounding cable I've found for 6SEV2 is: GUCraftsman all 6N copper version at around $170 on amazon.
My new dac has an OG TDA 1541 chip.

Beats the bricks off the ESS and AKM chip dacs I had been using.

New dac: SMSL ROHM chip D300 is giving me the best sound ever from my V6SE when run balanced with my HO200 amp.
I'm using the Khadas Tone 2 pro + Emotiva A100 mini x combo and getting great sound from my HE6se.

The HE-6 any generation thrives on current. Very much like Magnepan speakers. If you cannot power them to full dynamics, then you could have a sonic marvel - lets say a very nice First Watt by Nelson Pass - running the Maggie 3.7i on it, would be a waste.

The retired Violetric V281 does a nice job, so does either Ragnarok - and you can score a used Rag 1 for about $650 that runs them very nicely, conversly go to a 1.5 wpc @ 50 ohm superstar - you will not get the best out of them.

Got an email from Hifiman this morning. Some lucky SOB was able to score an OG HE-6 for $539. I'm super jealous. I checked the HE-4 and HE-5 and they were gone too, no surprise. I hope whoever got them will enjoy them. I guess I will just listen to my HE6se V2 and repeat the mantra, "I'm happy with what I have"

Finally got them 3D-printed honeycomb grilles for the HE-6se V2. Sonic bliss.

Are the honeycomb mods from ePay? If so, I saw those also. Black or Gold, hard to decide...Do they really enhance the sound in some way or just look super cool?
Thx!

Yay! I received mine this past Thursday (02/23) and I didn't have a readily available amp so I tried them with my Tandberg with the standard HP out. Right out of the box, the synergy, sound, everything I was hoping for was already there, incredible. I hope they remain and increase in their tonality after break in. I then received my monolith monoproce thxAAA 8877F Friday and been running them a bit. I will say at the moment the Tandbrerg receivers headphone out slightly edges out this new amp. Hopefully breaking in a bit will change things for the better. I have succeeded in uploading a photo.

Tried quite a few headphone cables with the HE6se and found one I really love a few months ago.

The balanced Audio Sensibility SE OCC Copper. I got the slim 3.5mm connectors which fit perfect into the recessed headphone inputs:

I also use the Hifiman HE1000 V2 cable.

The Audio Sensibility cable is more smoky and warm but the detail and separation is all there.

I find that the openness is enhanced, and the extra reverb that can be noted in wood blocks or finger snaps is gone. I tried a number of options. The two best - no screen and a 90% open mesh.

For some reason mated with my preferred pad, the sound stage gets wider together than either alone (DCA Angled Ether) - in head to head tests with 14 other pads on HE-6 6 screw, SE, and 500. None of the HFM pads makes the cut.

Thank you for the information, much appreciated.

you don't hear the drivers moving because of the vacuum generated by the DCA angle pads? I don't use them because I'm afraid the drivers are stuck to the magnets.
