If you're driving them off of speaker taps, do yourself a favor and (FIRST TURN YOUR VOLUME WAY DOWN!!!) try your Modhouse Argons/T50RPs off the same connection, then go back to the he6se v2s... Mind-blowing, isn't it? People used to talk about how hard it was to "properly" power the T50/Argons, and now it's like they're a joke to power after these things!

I can say having listened to these over the weekend, they're fabulous headphones, and well worth the Adorama special price. I reconfigured my main listening setup so my bedroom amp (Monoprice THX 887) is now by my PC and my PC amp (SMSL SH-8) is up in the bedroom where I don't need the power. Jokes make themselves. Both the 887 and my Liquid Platinum drive these really impressively. I can't wait to try them with speaker taps.

Listening back-to-back against my ZMF Auteurs and Verite Closeds, the HE6V2 doesn't quite live up to the VC's technicalities, but it does have that planar bass and a more neutral tuning. They're almost like a clearer but less fun version of the Auteurs.

I'm gonna try some pad-swapping on 'em as well. I've read Ori sheepskin pads play nice with 'em, and I can also try out a variety of other ZMF pads... I somehow think suede perf. Auteurs may sound nice. We'll see!

The suspension strap just snapped off one side of my HE6se V1.

I decided to break the other side, and use the two Dekoni nuggets I had lying around from my previous earpad experiment.

In case this headphone isn't ridiculous enough, now I have it with a broken headband and comfort has increased considerably. I can buy a replacement headband for $125. One day, lol.

If the headphone is still within warranty, why would they charge you for a replacement headband? I could see "shipping charges" which would be annoying, but "reasonable", but the full cost of the replacement part that just anyone would buy coming in off the street seems a bit excessive...

Oh, it's not within warranty, and I am not the original owner, nor do I have a receipt.

It is also much more comfortable in its current state, which is the best part, hah. It was a little small with the headband expanded all the way and I guess my constant pulling of it finally caused it to give. Which, in turn, gave me much more room to adjust, lol. It just looks like hell.

EDIT: HiFiMAN has been pretty great - in fact, when I had my HE1000 v2 and needed to replace the leather suspension strap that was worn out, I almost had to fight with them to prove it wasn't under warranty. They charged me for it, but it got delivered to the wrong address. So they sent me another, no fuss.

The headband I need is also out of stock, so there's that. Hah.

Might serve you to just put a Sundara headband on it since the original is out of stock anyway and call it a day.

Well, for $100 USD you could get a WHOLE SET of used HE4xx, have it in as little time as it takes to get to you from Georgia, and then have "bonus" earcups to play with as well... Even with the $14.95 shipping this guy is asking, you're still coming in under the hybrid band cost... (If you like the HE4xx's headband. At least you won't have the "too small fit" issue again.)
