Thanks for the response. It seems straightforward to hard wire the pigtails as they are accessible with the grill mod, but hardwire directly to drivers looks tricky. I contacted my aftermarket cable company (dhc) about it and they said they couldn't do it. Don't want to spend too much on it if benefits marginal. The he6s with fuzzor and grill mods already sound amazing.

Hmmm, badluck from Hifiman lately.  Got my warranty replacement for the HE-6 but I'm experiencing the loose connector issue on the left side, and also the left headphone goes out from time to time.  All right after the warranty period.  The bliss just doesn't last in the this hobby!

Better make use of those soldering skills! Open it from the grill side and it will be easy to spot the issue.

I just realized that the stock cable of my HE-6 has turned green.

Is this indicating that I have to replace the cable? If so, any recommendation on aftermarket cable for HE-6? Thanks!

Shouldn't affect performance, but doesn't means a nicer cable wouldn't sound better!

The thing with copper is that is oxidizes on the outside and then that forms a protective layer which protects the inside from further oxidation.

I think I would rather use some tape rather than squish bluetak in

you mean fuzzor mod or blue stuff we see a the edge?

what does this new mod do?

I put some blutack between the driver and the housing so it has a good seal now.

It decreases the bass by just a tiny amount but tightens it up too.

Ran out of time last night to do it to the other cup. Not sure if I like it more so we will see.

I think it's better to upgrade the cable if the original is oxidized.

I remember reading somewhere that electrons travel mostly on the surface of the wire (skin effect) so oxidized parts might impede flow. I'm just guessing here. But as mentioned above, you might get improvements with a cable upgrade.
