HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

I still prefer the velour overall. I didn't test an unaltered pleather because I lost them lol. I have a hunch that the pleather with bass vents, and some varying density of cotton in the grills will bring a nice improvement. I also experimented with angling the drivers, and found an audible improvement, but I was losing any sort of seal I had that ruined everything else. Therefore, I see the merit of the Audeze pad for sure. The Audeze pad may in fact be better than we can ever get the hifiman pads. I'm buying a pair for sure.

Yup.... I've played with angling mine, as well, and saw the potential.  Placed my order for the LCD pads tonight :)
Thanks for the work and the impressions!

Hello to all of you..... I dreamed about the he 6 for my next move..... Driving them with the good amp is not easy if i understand all the forum...... Is anybody have some impression of the tbi millenium ?

TBI Millenia is an excellent choice to drive the HE-6.

Wander over to the "Speaker Amps for Headphones" thread and do a search.  You will find a lot of very good impressions there.

Thanks to prepro, I've settled on using the Denon pads. I like the comfort (softer) and they are angled and better made than the pleather pads that come with the 6s. The bass is more firm than the velours but not quite as open sounding. I feel the pads of Hifiman are rather cheap for the quality of sound and cost. Better pads have improved comfort but you'll have to determine their impact on sound.

Thanks, Happy Camper. I love it when you and preproman push me off the fence advise me on HE-6 doings. I'm now open to swapping pads

but no poodles. May need the weekend to decide which pads - Audez'e vegan or Denon pleather? Where'd y'all get the Denon's??

I'm already eating soup for one. Not sure what else to sacrifice for some $80 pads. Still, my last audio purchase makes this soup

I just ordered some too! Hopefully they get here by Friday. Audeze is only 30 mins away from me.

If they sound better than my stock velours, it will the cheapest upgrade I've ever paid for. Sad but true...

I'm fixin' to search the Denon AH-D7000 thread to see if I can dig up a source on original pads. But if preproman would fess up, then...

This "cheap" upgrade of course being enough to buy a new headphone for some.

How 'bout I drive over and have them professionally install my vegan pads?

And while there, have 'em measure the resistance of my cans...
