  Hello,

Well I hope it's better because it's more expensive  (and too expensive for me)

I was thiking to get an xduoo xd-05 and in a second time an tube amp  like vali2 or project amber.  What did you think about this plan ?

If money is an issue, then the Vali 2 is the way to go.  The Project Ember is fantastic, but you'd be better off getting the Vali 2 and putting the extra funds towards a better DAC.

I can't comment on the xduoo since I haven't heard it.

Thank you :)
I've oreder the xudoo, because people report it as a good dac and a good amp. But well maybe  not enough power for an HE500.
So when i will have money I will buy a decent tube amp, and i suppose it will be good enough for me

Some people says the vali2 have some "riing" from the tube ...

Actually that was the original Vali that had the ting and ring.  In the Vali 2 the tube is replaceable.  Any noise or microphonics are from the tube not the amp...

  Hello everybody,

I was hoping you ould help me with my new HE-500. I recently bought one and really loved it. It's a huge step from my previous headphones! But unfortunately I feel that my current amplifier has not enough power to drive them properly as I listen at 80-85% volume and with some recordings I can even turn the volume knob to a maximum and it's still not very loud. I use Teac UD-301. What do you think I should do: get an additional standalone amplifier (like Schiit Jotunheim) or upgrade the device itself by getting something like IFI Micro idsd or something else. I seek something within a reasonable price range of 300-550 USD. I'm not very technical and perhaps - I don't exclude that - I only think that my UD-301 is not sufficinet

Please adivse. Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi Gayron,

How about one of these: http://nwavguy.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/fiio-e9-headphone-amp.html

It's not perfect, but it is relatively inexpensive e.g. on the UK 2nd hand market they can be picked up for around £35-40.00.

Hopefully other members of the community who own/have owned an E9 (or E09K) & paired it with an HE-500 will comment.

  Hello,

I have the opportunity to get a schiit Valhalla 2 ...

Well any advice ? any opinion plz ?    sompe people say a potentiel problem about power I ... ?

Regards,

I haven't heard it, but the HE-500 works better with amps suited for low impedance cans. The Vali 2, Lyr 2 and Jotunheim would all likely be better options.

I owned one and tried them together before. It is absolutely, unequivocally terrible.

Definitely lacking enough power for the HE500. IMO, 1 clean Watt is just right.
