Running the ex5 and it drives it fine.I'm looking for a DAC and I wonder if the Topping DX5 would be enough to drive the XS. What do you think?

New owner here! Very happy of the purchase Before making up my mind, the biggest worry is the ugly headband, now I think it is still ugly but surprisingly comfy. Can't comment much on the sound yet, the first impression is open-sounding, natural, very balanced. It's not easy to drive comparing with my AKG 702 or Beyer 770Pro, but FiiO K9 is more than enough to for me even on low gain.

The good news are that once you have these cans on your head, you don't see their headband
Other than this, congrats about your purchase, these are cool cans

Measured my EXS R/L resistance with a cheap multimeter, L is 16.x, R is 18.X; I think it does show the lacking of QC (doesn't matter what technology the driver is, they should show about the same resistance right?), but I can't hear a difference, which I assume it's also normal.
Have you measured your driver resistance? Are they equal?

I have and they are very similar.Measured my EXS R/L resistance with a cheap multimeter, L is 16.x, R is 18.X; I think it does show the lacking of QC (doesn't matter what technology the driver is, they should show about the same resistance right?), but I can't hear a difference, which I assume it's also normal.

What you see there is the influence of contact resistance, between jacks and sockets and meter probes and the jacks.
Bundled cable is not very good, I replaced mine on day two!
This does not show a lack of QC. It shows a potential defect in the driver or the influence of other factors as Kentajalli points out. And I say potential because I have no idea what the spec limits for these drivers are or if they should be perfectly matched or not (I know nothing about electronics, but I do know something about manufacturing). There is something called manufacturing tolerances, which define upper and lower specification limits. As long as the part falls within those limits, it's acceptable. Outside of the spec limit, and it's considered defective.

Yes! It turns out a cable problem with 2o difference for L&R. Can't believe they can't make a cable right.I have and they are very similar.

You are right! I tested with an alternative method and the drivers all show up as 16.x ohm, and the the stock cable shows difference in about 2ohms. can't believe they can't provide a decent cable to go at this price point. This does not show a lack of QC. Scientificly it shouldn't , but I made a cable with single solid core for each conductor (pure silver , 0.6mm annealed , means soft! ) and quality jacks.
it really made a difference.
cost to me, less than £20 for materials.

there are a lot of DIY cables in Etsy. I bought one and it is excellent
Is this a joke?there are a lot of DIY cables in Etsy. I bought one and it is excellent
DIY cable, and you bought one ready made?
Is there a contradiction ?
Whether it is hand made by me or by someone else does not make it a non DIY cableIs this a joke?

I bought one from https://gladiatorcables.com/gladiator-line
I'll let you know how it is when I get it in the mail! $70 for a handmade cable with Neutrik XLR seems pretty good in my book.
