Hifiman Edition X

So, this weekend I will have a chance to compare both the 800 and the 800s to the HEX. Now the HEX is meant to be a "portable" headphone so I will compare them on both the Liquid Spark/PlusSound Cloud9 and on desktop rigs such as the Questyle gold stack and some Cavalli amps and report back what I think.

Any headphones that people want me to compare with I can try and get access to them as well.

So, I want to get the opinions of people on this thread. I own the HE-400i. In short, it is the best headphone I have ever owned along with the HD650. For those who have tried both the HE-400i and the HEX, what are the main differences? I have heard the treble is a little more laid back on the HEX, at least compared to the HE-400i. Are there any other significant differences between the two? Is there justification in the price difference in your guys opinions?

Sorry for the late update, so last Sunday I had a chance to compare the HEX with the HD800,the HD800s (was not able to get a T5P).

The HD800 beats the HEX in the highs and total detail fairly easily but its not as easy to drive, didn't sound as spacious and the HEX is a warmer sound overall and seems to win out in lows and sound-staging, but I did find the HD800 to be more enjoyable than the HD800s. The HD800s was too smooth sounding and didn't sound as musical as the HEX does to me .

I have also been spending the week with the Dharma D1000, and I have to say I think the D1000 and the HEX compliment each other fairly well, the D1000 is detailed and has the highs that I sometimes want that the HEX can provide for me but the HEX is more fun sounding and is better for using when I play games or watch action shows or movies.

Next week I will be able to go an compare the HEX to the Ether and Ether C.

Hi from Spain

My Edition X.

For me,are the best """"Portable""" Cans in the world.  Driven by Xduoo Xd5,or Oppo Ha-2...fantástic.

But when  driven by Chord Hugo TT or Audiovalve Luminare,or Oppo Ha-1...are better..

Just thought I'd weigh in quickly.

Heard the edition X today (properly) and compared it to the hek.

In short:

The edition X has zero glare or harshness. Has fantastic bass and is an all round gem of a headphone. Really really liked it.
