Hifiman Edition X

Just looking at the peaks on the data posted at Innerfidelity it looks to me like the HE-1000 is more peaky or about the same as the HEX in the 8-10K range but nobody complains about it being peaky.  The spectra are pretty similar.  What am I missing?

Nothing...there have very smooth and extended treble.

Had to chance to try these with the Audeze deckard, and a dedicated amp definitely had nice improvements (not saying the deckard is the best match, just the one they had on display)

With that being said, what's a good $200-$300 AMP (have a DAC already) in your guys' opinion? Does not need to be portable, I'll be using it for home use

I know the Mojo is a superb match, but my father is being very generous as it is and going over $300 is not an option atm. I have no problem going used if it means a better amp

edit: Didn't someone say the TEAC HA-P50 was good? Also was looking at the Sony PHA1A and Oppo HA-2

I have the mojo which is a dac that happens to have an amp $600 I feel it's a great fit
I had the lyr and bifrost to mellow for my hifiman edition x. The hex needs a little brightness in my opinion

I like the HEX because i think it's a little dark....but all ears are different.  I use a Bimby and Valhalla 2 set up.
