Help!  I have several brands of cans, HE-400, Audeze LCD2, Grado 325i, Beyerdynamic DT990 and HD 600. On any given day they all sound nice. I'm using a Little Dot MKIII with 6 sets of tubes. I still want to upgrade the cans. Is the HE-500 worth the extra $$$ over the 400?  I could live with out the Audeze as they aren't much better then the HE400. I like the 325i for the pure accuracy. The DT990 and the HD 600 could also go. I'm thinking if I end up with HE-500, Beyerdynamic T-90 and Grado 325, I should have all the presentations covered; YES?  Is there another can I should be looking at?

I use the cans with Spotify and Foobar. I also use a JDS DAC, mostly old rock and roll, new country, smooth jazz and guitar stuff.

Heck yeah, you can get one for $460 if you search hard in the fs forums.

The HE-500 are humble sounding. I've never heard the He-400's but for the price you can get an HE-500 nowadays, there really is no better buy.

For the genres you listed the HE-500 sounds better than the HE-400.  The strong points of the HE-400 are bass and treble whereas the HE-500 is soundstage and midrange.  Having heard and owned both, I'd definitely go for the HE-500 over the HE-400 for those genres.
