A very noob question. - I got the player, I wanted to understand how can it be used as a desktop dap. I tried putting in the driver and connecting it to my desktop. However, how does one access the music/library or play it. thank you
What desktop audio equipment are you trying to play to?

In that case please email hello@hiby.com with the following:
"My R6 III touchscreen (touch registration) has partially failed in that certain areas of the screen do not register touches anymore as tested with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.rallwell.siriuth.touchscreentest (picture attached). Have tried factory resetting the player. Fault confirmed by Joe Bloggs on head-fi. Please advise next steps."

(include personal and purchase info as appropriate)

Sorry about that.
Done.

Joe, I'd want to emphasize my feeling with your support: your support is very direct, honest and helpful. Really sincere thanks.

I was thinking to connect to my Desktop (Windows PC), Installed the drivers as well, and getting recognized but I thought the device would would show up in VLC or something.
Yes it would, if you pull down the notification shade, tap where it says "USB connected for charging" (or similar) and choose "DAC in" (or audio in or similar) instead.

As I said my question might be very noobish. - 1) does this make my player an External DAC - if yes then does it make me use my PC music to get converted in balanced sound ? is there a video guide for the same? 2) if it makes my player behave like a "line in" if that happens then I can run the music of my player on my PC - if that's the case I cannot see how to do it.

3) if it's some other function - then I am pretty clueless about it.

So it's now around 1.5 months I've had this DAP and using it almost daily. Having a blast with it, although there were two instances where it acted weird on me:

  • I took the SD card out to save new music into it. Everything I saved in after re-inserting appeared at 0:00 runtime in both, Poweramp and Hiby Music. Playback not possible (gave error in both apps). I re-loaded the music, re-inserted the card, restarted the device. The files started working correctly. Note: I always dismount the card before taking it out, and I do it with all applications closed.

  • Usually the device has the "charging rapidly" message, either when plugging it to the wall or the PC. This one time, it said "charging slowly" instead. This affected the player since it wasn't detectable as a removable device when connecting it to the computer (the USB menu simply would not pop up in Android); I assume because of insufficient electrical input. I restarted the device and it behaved normally again, although last time I connected it to the PC and chose the "File Transfer" option from the USB menu, it was not charging (even though the battery had the charging icon). Transferring files worked properly.

Is this a common occurrence in these devices? That at some point they just choose to act whatever they feel like it and the way to get them to work normally again is to just restart them from the system menu. I'm a newbie into this kind of equipment so I'm totally unaware if that's a normal/expected behavior for them (as I understand there might be some connection nuances between the DAC chips, the motherboard, and how the OS interprets them at a given point in time).
It is to note both times I was using the included Hiby USB-C cable with a USB-C to A converter to plug it into the computer. While I get it the ideal way to operate it is through a C to C endpoint, truth is my PC does not have a USB-C port so I had to look for alternatives to make it work.

Thanks in advance!

I'm listening to DT770 250 Ohm and thinking about making a balanced mod. Does this make sense? I understand that the power of the balanced output is greater than 3.5, but would it make sense to violate the original construction of the headphones or is it better to use other headphones with the Hiby r6III?

What's the word on balanced modding these? Do you have to drill new holes on both earcups or is it sufficient to expose the existing protruding wiring and put a new plug on it?

No, there are only three lines in the wire, the wire needs to be changed, as well as the supply wires to the speakers need to be re-soldered. There are two options: 1) 4pin mini XLR and drilling a hole for the connector in the left cup. 2) 3.5 in each cup, then you will have to drill both cups.

Hello,

I was very happy with the newly purchased Hiby r6 III but when I charged it the first time I realized that the quick charge does not work. It starts charging well but in a few minutes it switches to lens charging (which is not slow, it is very slow).

Has anyone been able to solve it?

Thank you very much!

Greetings everyone,

I find myself in the process of acquiring a Hiby R6 Gen III from Australia, facilitated by my cousin who is currently on holiday there. As I've observed, numerous users in this community have encountered various problems, defects, and bugs with this device. I'm seeking advice on the major bugs or issues that my cousin should be vigilant about while inspecting the device. Once he brings it to Bangladesh for me, the possibility of obtaining a replacement or requesting a refund will be unavailable. Any guidance on this matter would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I suggest to wait for a new firmware because the latest one has a series of bugs...
