HEV-90 and (2)HE-90 on Ebay

Yes the HE90/Aristaeus combo does a much better job with rock as well. Better dynamics, details and they are much quicker than with the HEV90. The HEV90 is very sweet sounding amp, but IMO it does'nt exactly give you what is on the disc.Gary

I can confirm this as well.  My comment was referring to the HE90+HEV90 combo.  When I had the ES-1, the HE90 sounds very dynamic and can out-rock even the L3000.  Again, the HEV90 isn't bad at all with rock just it isn't that great with rock.

Hmmm... I found the He90 can be good for rock.  just not with the HEV90.

Wow, if only I had 30 grand laying around...  I think this is a bit overpriced even for the Orpheus.  But, if I had the kind of money a potential buyer has, I'd pay that for the best headphone system ever.

Wow. I didn't think prices would be going up, especially now.

But $37k... it just isn't worth it. That's in the realm of income producing investments.

What good is a $37k rig if you have to be at work 60-70 hours a week while it just sits there? You're better off generating unworked income so you can hang around the house most of the day listening to music.

Not really a good deal when they get that expensive :D  At least, it nice to know that the Orpheus keeps appreciating in value.  35k is probably a small change when the rich wants the best sound from headphones.

Wow.  Yeah.  We'll see if it sells and for what.  I recently retubed my Orpheus as my Siemens ECL86's were dying (getting old, original no doubt from 1996 but from A 1991 production).  I got my hands on some telefunken ECL86's and they sound great!  Very detailed and with a quicker voltage stabilization time than the previous tubes.  The Siemens ECC83 (12AX7's) that come with the HEV90 are already quite great.  Even after all this time and use, they are still quite powerful.  I tried NOS telefunken ECC83's and much preferred the Siemens.

Neil,

I'm using a Siemens ECL 83s on mine in combination of Amperex ECL86s and thought the sound is markly more transparent than all Siemens sets.  The bass is also slight more robust as well.
