After nearly a week of searching and comparing reviews, I decided to buy the Drop / Sennheiser HD58X Jubilee. Unfortunately, I didn't get them when they're selling for $149 (I paid $20 more). I've been using these headphones for a little more than a week, and they fit what I'm looking for. Enough bass extention for piano and the kinds of music I listen to, comfortable and light weight, and according to the reviews I read, they do have detachable audio cables should the stock one breaks. If and when that happens, I'll get a 4.4mm plug cable directly.

So far, it's working well with my Babyface Pro FS, and I feel it's met all my expectations, and well within my budget.

Just want to bring an update to this thread, so y'all would know my final choice.

I hope this pair will last me a good many years to come.

So I assume that you did not travel to Sweetwater and just paid for shipping on the HD58X. If you get a new 4.4mm cable, then also get a 3.5mm-to-4.4mm adapter to use with your RME Babyface Pro as well.

Also, if you still want to try other stuff, then plan on making a trip to Chicagoland for this upcoming event:

Thank you! And you're right, I didn't travel to Sweetwater, as I actually live a few hours away from there, and I don't drive because of my blindness.

As the Babyface has a 4.4mm jack, now I've been using the stock 3.5mm cable with the adapter. I prefer the sound output from this port, too. So in the event that this cable breaks in the future, I'll be just getting a 4.4mm cable, without adapter.

I'd get these and save the rest on something else

Ridiculously good price for what you get
I’d love to, but someone commented on the previous page that they’ve seen a previous model fall into pieces and completely unusable. I’m afraid of something like this happening sometime down the road. Edit: or maybe it was on another form. But I remember reading something similar.

If you want a cheap and reliable 4.4mm cable for your HD58X, then look here:

Also, if you want a cheap $50 closed-back to have for even closer monitoring, the check this one out and consider getting this 4.4mm cable with it as well:

Thanks. I'll consider the 4.4mm cable. However, I believe the Babyface has an unbalanced 4.4mm jack? I may be wrong, but that's what I remember. I guess I can't plug a balanced cable into an unbalanced jack, right?

I believe you can, but won't work in reverse.

You can plug balanced headphones/cable into an unbalanced jack no issues. You just need the appropriate adapter (e.g. 6.3mm male to 4.4mm female). Electrically its fine.

What you need to be careful about is plugging an unbalanced cable into a balanced jack, as the amplifier (assuming its pushing a differential signal out through the balanced jack) is expecting each negative return to be a separate channel. There are 4.4mm male to 6.3mm (or 3.5mm) female adapters on Ali or Amazon or whatever that just bridge those two negative signal returns, and your amplifier isn't going to like that long-term.
