My mum has damaged a big black plastic covering the underneath of the front of a toyota camry. Does anyone know what car part this is called? I thought its a mud guard but mud guards are placed in front of doors so.............

Is it the front valance panel? If it hangs below the front bumper, that's probably what it is.

If it's on the underside of the car, it's a splash shield.

Might also be referred to as a Sump Guard.

sorry no. the plastic covering seems to cover the very front-underneath part of the car so mud doesnt get into the car from below. I saw part of it dangling down the car and thats how i found out.

thats what i thought but when i checked the car it seems to be just a big flat piece of black plastic covering the car underneath from left to right. The splash shield looks curved.

on trucks that part is commonly called a skidplate

being plastic on a sedan, its sometimes called the engine under cover, or some variant on that

that said, if its just hanging there, the fix could be as simple as popping in a few retaining bits that have broken off

Under Exterior/Interior trim, 1st page there is something they just call engine under cover. RH & LH (right and left part)

I believe Toyota uses the "simple" term in their manual. the technical term is called

"black plastic thingy on the front bottom"
