So I'm looking for something in ear.  I just bought the Ibasso DX 50, so that's the source, no amp.  The choices in order of increasing price are:

1. Sony XBA 40 and/or Sony XBA-H3
2. The Custom Art Music One
3. Shure 535
4. Sennheiser IE800
5. JH Audio JH 13 and/or 16

I listen to mainly electronic stuff and rock at the gym.  But I like to listen to blues, jazz, things like Nina Simone etc.when not at the gym.

Has anyone chance tried any/all of these.  The question that I really have is the JH16 for example 200% better then the XBA 40.  If not what sort of percentage are we talking about.  Any views you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Alwyn

hmm... you're looking at almost a $1000 gap between some of those iems... and many with very different sound signatures. What price range are you really looking for and what type of sound? It might help others on the forum see your needs and help you find whats best for you if they knew.

So I'm new to all of this if that wasn't completely obvious.

I'm not sure what sound signature I want.  I've heard the JH 13 and 16 and out of the 2 I liked the 16's.  I tried some over the ears and I liked the pioneer hdj 2000 and AKG 550, if that tells you anything, though I want in ears

There is no where to try in ears on in Australia, so I'm left with reviews and/or recommendations.

I wouldn't balk at $500, going to $1000 would be uncomfortable!!

Thanks Alwyn

Hi there, thanks for the link. I have had a look before and read a number of reviews about some of the various IEMs.  Its all just a bit overwhelming, but I appreciate you responding.

From this list I only have the Shure SE 535, but like musicheaven mentioned in post #6370 of the iBasso DX50 Thread, the much cheaper SE 215 make a better match in SQ. I`m running on fw 1.2.2 and also love this combination...

I just got the Shure SE 215 specifically for my DX50 (fw 1.2.2). Only a couple hours with it but initial impression is they pair well together. Plenty of controlled bass and of course those very nice Shure mid-ranges. Treble fairly smooth, definitely not harsh. Very enjoyable.
