Been a while since I have posted. Havent had time due to school...I digress

My wife took my Sony eggos that I got a year or two ago and I have been using some Shure E2C IEMs. They are ok but I want something full sized and have narrowed down but not knowing what all is out there.

The only large cans I have are the Koss Pro 4AA, ugly as sin and some what uncomfortable but sound good to me. Not too boomy and not to crunchy on the high end.

I am looking for something like these but better, but the only audio shop local to me has grados and im not a fan.

Here is what I need.
Closed
~$150
thats is

Music Taste - most everything but country ... really.

Player - 120GB zune

Here are the phones that I have been looking at
AudioTechnica ATH-A700
Beyerdynamic DT770

The only reason I picked these they are the only ones I can find in my price that are closed. But I dont know what all is out there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Auditioning would be difficult so I will have to purchase blindly.
If this is in the wrong forum mods please move.

If you don't care about size, go with the a700s. The DT770s are not closed, so they do leak some sound. I would say go with the ATH-M50s. They are good, DJ style phones for about $130 that are a little smaller than the 700s.

I dont care of IEMs and size doesnt bother me too much thats why I am looking at larger phones but closed so that I do not bother people around me with my music.

Not familiar with the AKG Djs, will have to look into them. I did get a chance to listen to 701s and I liked those but they are a bit out of my budget and open.

sennheiser hd 280/380 pro?

denon ah-d501k or ah-d1001k?

m-audio studiophile q40?

allen & heath xone?

creative aurvana live (w/e the d1001 clone is, its usually available on sale for less)?

of all of those, i'd take the m-audio's, sennheiser's, or maaaaybe the d1001/aurvana's, basically your source will determine what works best at that point

hd25-1 ftfw

and i wouldnt want to lug around a frail, huge, attention grabbing audio technica headphone with me around school... =P

the dt770pro-80 (old version) is super durable, but the cord is too long and thick, not good for listening while moving around.

k81dj, ES7, D1001 are also good suggestions as they are all meant to be used as portables!
