I just received my Ath-M50, and was wondering if listening through the speaker (The headphones are connected to the speaker) or straight from the computer would change sound quality? I'm not sure what my sound card (whatever it's called is), but the speaker's are made by "Insignia", if that's relevant. I was just curious because of the LOD vs. HP jack sound quality difference on an ipod/ DAP

The speakers might have an op-amp that can provide more power for the speakers and headphone jack on them.  But Insignia is a store brand so the quality might not be as good.  The speakers are connected to the sound card and the speakers to the headphones, the speakers probably add more noise then it's worth.  The ATH-M50 from what I've read are not at all demanding and can be driven off the sound card quite well.  I would just run them off the sound card for reduced noise and signal degradation.
