Don't know what your budget is, but my girlfriend uses my ES7's and is very happy with those. Closed, good sound, shiny. you should be able to find new real ones from ±$90
I would definitely recommend some Koss Portapro's they're insanely good for the price. I've never heard some Sennheiser PX100's but it looks like they're similar to the Portapro's. Anything you buy would be better than iBuds so you should be easy to please.
I'm in Toronto too, and I'll be going to the Sennheiser Sound Tour. It's coming up soon in Toronto, they're giving away a lot of headphones at Future Shop and Best Buy. It's another option for you, this should help you out... Sennheiser Sound Tour: Facebook
Take a look at the Sony MDR-V6. They're good headphones and great for casual listening around town. They even fold up and come with a vinyl storage bag for transport.
Best of all, you can find them in many electronics stores. Take your iPod or other DAP along with you and give them a listen. Retail is usually around $75, but I've seen refurbished oens go as low as $50 or so.
