Hi all

I have a pair of Sony MDR V6 headphones ( need to replace the pads if anyone knows where to get them) and I do like the sound of them, but yesterday I heard the Beyer DT 770Pros and was impressed with the bass ( I actually listened for about 10 seconds as I was selling a synth and the guy brought his Beyers.
Just wondering if people have had both the Sony and Beyer and could tell me what one they liked most.
I like to use my headphones with my modular synth, creative Zen Xtra and laptop whilst at home and on the train. I really prefer to block out as much sound as possible.
I did own a pair of Grado headphones that sounded amazing but they were too open so I sold them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as blocking out noise, well, when I used my dt770's on the train, I had to turn my cdp's volume all the way up to 10 to even hear the music decently, and I STILL heard the train's loud noise. So you might wanna consider something that isolates better.

Just my two cents

the only closed can that will isolate better than the dt770 and compete with it on a sq level is the hd25-1 (other than iems of course). i have not heard the v6, but i am very happy with my dt770, and also use it for studio purposes (logic pro, reason and ableton on my ibook). if i would complain, i would say that the dt770 are not really resolving enough for this type of application, but theyre by far my favorite cans (musically) that i have owned.

True Dat! I have a VERY old set of MDR-V6's .. I LOVE EM TO DEATH! They have a much better sound, IMHO, then my newer MDR-7506's. I'll be getting the DT250 pads in the mail hopefully by this weekend.

I wish I could find a local store/Head-Fi'er with DT770's or DT880's ... I really want to listen to these cans.

I also could recommend the Senn HD25-1's. They are one of the best portable pro/studio type's I have heard.

anywhere else to buy these pads? this place wants minimum $27 for postage !!!! a more realistic price should be $8-$10 to Australia

Let's be sure that's not a specific criticism of B&H - there is a B&H Photo Appreciation Thread floating around right now, and it is full of posts from satisfied customers - some for up to 25yrs (like myself).

That's too bad they have to charge that much to Australia, but from what I hear, Mouser and DigiKey do the same. I once ordered some Mouser parts for another guy in Australia and sent them to him personally. You might be able to find someone that can do that for you, too.

I think the shippers/customs/etc. have everything to do with the international shipping costs. US Mail for a small package from a private individual is not the same thing.

I am sorry but it is a criticism, I buy modular synth modules, CDs, books etc from the US, these pads are probably the same height as a double CD and weigh less, so asking min $26 max $36 for something so small and light is just taking advantage of people.
