I have about $150 to spend on a new headphone amp and dac, and I'm looking for suggestions on which one to buy. The amp and dac can be one unit, or separate units if necessary. I am currently looking at the Schiit Stack (Magni + Modi) and the Audioengine D1 but they are too expensive at US $198 and $169. Which amp and dac combo is the best for under $150? I plan to power Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 ohm headphones with it.

Not saying any of the mentioned amp/dac's are bad but if I were in your shoes I'd just save up for better headphones at that point :)

I use a FiiO K5 Pro and works fine with DT770 250Ohm so would easily power your 80Ohm cans. I find the K5 Pro also good for up to 600Ohm so future proofing if you need it. Compact easy to use frills-free neutral sound at a good price.

The Fiio K5 Pro is right on budget at $149.99 on Amazon and should have more than enough power for the 770’s but have not heard it myself just going by specs.
I'll look into it more. I was also considering the K5 Pro as a second option to the Audioengine D1 or the Schiit Stack. The amazon reviews look pretty good, and the specs look good as well.

I saw this one as a second option to the other amp/dac combos.

Since your DT770 is 80 ohms, then the AQ Dragonfly Black V1.5 will work just fine and will fit almost anywhere in your bag or case:

The problem I have with the Dragonfly Black is the 1.2 volt output. While it is fine for most IEM’s and some headphones I would rather have the Red as it has a 2.1v output which is more common as a line out as that is more of of what I use it as a dac.
