I'm pretty sure I'll be at your desk in CJ, along with my SE530 and O2

Finally time to come back to Head-fi. Great to see the renditions of the product, Justin! Looking forward to obtaining this amp, as I've always been for some time now.

Now that is what I call a portable amp.

First the pico dac, then the hf-2, now this. If my significant other ever sees my credit card statement, I am looking at a solid month of sleeping on the couch. I am really excited about the digital volume control as I can finally listen at the ultra low volumes I tend to prefer with my iems without having to worry about channel matching.

Will you be at CanJam to try the prototype? You'll have to try it yourself to see just how quiet you can go. You can set it just on the threshold of your hearing and still hear it equal in both channels. Also, with the "infinite" number of volume steps, you would think this is the world's most perfect potentiometer not a digital volume control. There are so many steps each one is too small to be heard

Unfortunately there will be no CanJam for me this year due to other commitments, so this will be yet another new piece of tech I will have to read about rather than experience.(at least until they start getting built and shipped.

Either way, I think you nailed it with this one, intelligently addressing the usual pitfalls of the portable solution. Bravo.

The "original" Pico is already very very small.. Tiny.. I can't imagine how tiny the slim will be. I guess I have to come to CanJam.

Will we be able to "DIY" this digital volume control into other circuits or be able to purchase it by itself?

What would be holding this volume control back from being used in high-end amps like your GS-X, or will we be seeing it in other products also?

Thanks

I don't have any plans to offer anything DIY

It could be used in full-size amps but I'm not even thinking about that right now. It wouldn't be the first time. This volume control has also been used by Marantz, Parasound and others in $2k, $3k or more amplifiers.

Man, Justin just keeps pushing the envelope. Finally, something that is truly portable, easily fitting in a shirt pocket.
