Do you think it is possible to properly drive the DT880's 600 Ohm version?

Based on the voltage of 18v, I am willing to bet it would.

Although I love this amp, and the SQ, one problem that I have with it, is that when using higher impedance headphones (the 600 ohm DT-880's for example), when I turn up the volume, and sometimes need to max it out to get a reasonable volume, it starts to distort and clip. This is using Hi-rez files, so it's not the files.
I'm not so sure you would be happy with how the slim handles 600Ω headphone, the T-1's included). But I don't think that an amp of such small size, with beautiful mids and clarity, is really meant to be tasked like that. IEMs and 32Ω headphones with decent sensitivity, are a perfect match with the Slim.

Oops. Sorry Justin. I was mixing up 2 different threads in my "subscribed threads" CP.

Justin, can we expect similar specs to the Pico amp wrt output impedance and THD?  I'd love to be able to use this w/ my 20ohm ES5 and Orthos as well.

I also second Larry's desire for recharging if possible somehow.  I imagine your design must be pretty set at this point.

Justin, I'm assuming this project was shelved when demand for your 'stat amps took off ? Understandable.

Update!  This new amp is nearly ready to go.  Just need to finalize the circuit board (what's in the pictures is a prototype, and there are changes), and have the enclosures machined.  The enclosures are machined from 3 blocks of USA aluminum, creating a unique set which will then be sanded/polished as 1 block, creating a seamless appearance.  They will then be laser engraved in-house with great detail.

Specs?  All subject to change, as this represents the prototype.

Enclosure - Milled from solid USA aluminum, dimensions about 4 x 2.25 x 0.8"

Design Type - Single Channel Op-Amp with Discrete Output Buffering (hand-matched components)

Power Supply - 2x 9V batteries of any kind, removable battery door on bottom
Reverse Battery Protection - Yes
Power Indicator - 1.8mm Red LED
Max Output Voltage - 14-18V (subject to change)
Max Output Current ~200mA/Ch (subject to change)
3-Way Gain Switch - 1x, 5x, 9x (subject to change)
Volume Control - Alps 9mm rotary, hand selected

Battery Life (subject to change)

Non-Rechargeable Batteries
Lithium Primary - 100 hrs
9V Alkaline - 50 hrs

Rechargeable Batteries
Lithium-Ion 33 to 41 hrs
High Capacity NIMH - 25 hrs
Med Capacity NIMH - 21 hrs
Low Capacity NIMH - 17 hrs
