HeadAmp Headphone Demos -- Sign up now for HiFiMAN HE-560
Mar 20, 2013 at 2:59 AM Post #391 of 1,464
as YGuyG said, as of now all the headphones are accounted for, but going down the list it has gotten more difficult.  my guess is that this is due to the amount of time that has passed since sign-ups.  the last 3 people on the HE-500 list all passed on the opportunity so i already had those returned to me

I wouldn't have given up the spot if I was them. The wait really was worth it. Don't worry guys. You really have nothing to lose.

+1!!!

I was shocked when Justin told me that 3 guys had dropped out... I would wait months to listen to ~$1000 headphones.... no point in dropping out unless there are some circumstances. Even if I didnt like headphones and moved onto speakers, I would still want to try high end headphones lol.

I am truly glad everything got resolved though... This is seriously one of the coolest programs ever.

Cant wait for the LCD2!

Believe me, I'm glad it got resolved too, I was panicking because I knew everyone was going to get mad/upset and at the time I couldn't do anything about it. It doesn't feel good to have people looking at you like you are a thieving a-hole especially when you aren't. It'll be a good day when you get them, they really haven't come off my head since I got home from work tonight, last night was pretty much the same haha. Just glad eveything is sorted out, I've been out of the loop a bit though. It's a shame to see that Todd got ripped off, that's really depressing. At least all the LCD-2's are accounted for now :D

I really would like to participate in this if Justin decides to do this again, but we definitely NEED additional security measures. Required tracked delivery (and not the pseudo-stuff that USPS provides, UPS or Fedex minimum) is the least we can do, and I'm sure that more security measures can be implemented.

I vote the security measures make it a requirement to be a headfier since at least 2010 and have at least 1581 posts by today at 10:00AM PST

Just got the HE-400s in the mail today about 20 minutes ago, and they look great (and sound even better so far)!

Again, thanks Justin for the absolutely amazing opportunity to demo these headphones!

Agreed. I think if Justin decides to do this again, he should implement some rules... such as keep it within the United States only. Require that the user is active, require tracking information for the delivery, and up to date communication between the sender, receiver, and himself (ex. when the person sends off the pair of headphones to the next person, provide the tracking code and let them know it's on their way to them. Receiver lets the sender know they arrived safely, and so on...)

That's how it is now.

How about Justin only ships to confirmed home addresses? I recall that an issue arose because a unit was mis-sorted through a company mail room.

Yeah he could charge a small convenience fee through PayPal and then only ship to a verified PayPal address that's used for the payment.

It really just comes down to people doing what they're supposed to with the packages. If they do that then the existing rules are enough. IDK. We'll see. Hopefully it works out so that he can do more in the future.

Can't wait to see the Stax 407 list. I'm still holding out hope that I might make the cut. :D

So since the other ones were accounted for, I broke into the Stax 407 box, you know, since I'm going to pay to ship them either way. And all I can say is ... oh my God.

^ post pics.

If you do ever want a Stax setup, go with the SRM-323S amp to start.  you can go all the way up to the SR-009 with that with good results.  the SRM-252S will struggle with something like the SR-007 MK2, but i didnt want to include a SRM-323S amp for the demo because of its value and size/weight for shipping.
