Are the current Headamp products GS-1 and GS-X based on designs coming from Kevin Gilmore?

Yes. The GS-1 is a Dynalo (Gilmore Dynamic), while the GS-X is a balanced Dynalo, at least until the FET based amp boards come out.

My understanding is that this is a balanced dyanlo so it's more like the GS-X than the GS-1. All I can tell you is the GS-X is flat out amazing and drives my HD650s with authority even when compared to the much higher power beta22 (I think all the extra power is going to waste but that's a different argument).

I'm not sure what's different between the GS-X and the gilmore reference other than possibly the power supply and the GS-X is designed to be easily upgradeable in the future with new boards in development (well they've been rumored to be in development but Justin is making so many pico's we'll see when they get here).

Keep in mind there were a few singled ended Gilmore References.

I asked justin about it before.
He said "The GS-X and Gilmore Reference will sound similar, but the GS-X is better built/engineered and has additional features like the gain switch, inputs/loop outs, separate power supply."
