This should have an interesting effect on the value of used Gilmore Lites without the DPS. It will no longer be tempting for people to pick up a used one while budgeting for the power supply upgrade later on. My guess is that the demand and selling prices for standard, used Gilmore Lites is on the way down...

I'm a little confused as to why if he's not turning a good profit on them he just doesn't increase the price enough to make it worth his while and keep the unit in production (within reason of course). If there was a good market for the DPS I'd bet that's what Just would do so maybe the market is just not worth it.

It must be hard to want to build power supplies when you're so busy building GS-Xs and BHSEs

Because with any product there is a point at which raising the price doesn't make business sense. My guess is that in this case the reason the DPS might go away goes something like this: in order to make it worth Justin's time to build them when demand for other more profitable products is high might mean that the price would no longer be appropriate for the application. I mean to say that if the amp costs $399 and if the power supply had to go to $399 or even $499 (from the current $299) it would then become competition for the GS-1. Justin has always done a very good job of keeping his product line compact and not in competition with itself, that helps him be efficient in what he offers while providing the greatest range of products possible. Kind of like how Headroom has their different lines of products (portable, micro, desktop, etc.).

Well busy or not, I find it hard to accept the way business is running. After I wrote in this tread, I got a mail from Justin, saying that the amp would be finished in two weeks time - jubii, I was one happy dane. Five (5!) weeks later, I wrote an email again to Justin about my amp - now he replied that he had all the parts and the amp would be finished in about a weeks time. Well that was three weeks ago! And I haven't heard anything from him, I quess that is the worst, the lack of communication - an email saying 'sorry you amp is delayed' would be fine - but this is not ok, I think.

Oh well, patience, patience.

Just want to let Headamp buyers know that I received my Gilmore Lite within 4 weeks after ordering. The amp reached me last week and I'm testing it right now. May be Justin already had all the parts required to build G-Lite for me quickly?..I don't know.

Now I'm pulling trigger on DPS. I had couple of questions about DPS, so sent an email to Justin 4 days ago and I've got a reply today !! So I don't have any issues so far. At the same time I could also understand people who are waiting for long time to hear back from Justin. You know all these frustrations will be blown away in a second once you get the amp in your hand.

Thank you, this is the kind of story I need to hear more.

Wasn't DPS discontinued? There is a a thread about that somewhere.

That's great news. Perhaps my DPS will come soon. I ordered in early March and have been waiting for about 16 weeks now. I emailed Justin yesterday and waiting for his reply.

You don't think you can order the DPS without the Gilmore Lite. You now have to purchase them both at the same time.

Seems there is a lot of variability in delivery time with HeadAmp. A four week turn around for Murugesh, where as people like lmf22 and myself (I ordered a Gilmore Lite with DSP back in early March) are still waiting four months later, with absolutely no word from Justin.

In the past 2 years, I've ordered a GS-1, AE-2 and most recently a GS-X -- I received the two former amps within 10-12 weeks, however I've yet to receive my GS-X which was ordered at the end of Jan '08. It does appear that at least for some amps such as the GL, GS-1 and GS-X, the wait period seems to getting longer, although it's not exactly clear why. Most of us are aware that Headamp is basically a "one person" company, and there is only so much time available to build amps, especially if product demand becomes high. Of course availability of parts and other factors can also impact turn-around time as well. My own perspective is that products of such high quality as Headamp's are worth waiting for, even if it may take 7 months or more. Just remember that waiting periods for some things, like certain custom-built cars, may actually be well over a year.

Well custom cars involve many many more man hours than even a GS-X and that makes the wait make more sense. I ordered a GS-X right around when you did but I found one second hand after about a month and a half wait. I had been told when I ordered that the wait would be 8 weeks and I'm very glad I didn't believe it.

The GS-X is an amazing amp but the beta22 is just as amazing and it appears that you can get one built significantly quicker than you can get a GS-X. I owned both for a while and I kept the GS-X because I could find no difference sonically and the particular beta I had was not as flexible as the GS-X (if I'd had a naamf built one the story would likely be different).

What's worrying about panthermodem's story is that someone who apparently ordered well after him took delivery before him which any way you slice it is entirely unacceptable.

Justin does build great amps and they are bordering on works of art so as you say it's likely worth the wait to some but I honestly think to others it's not worth it with the beta22 sitting out there.

I honestly hope his service improves and If it takes a price increase to do this then so be it (ie. hire a part time mail and order tracking assistant).

Sorry for the rather fragmented post, I'm torn because I'm listening to the GS-X and it sounds so good....

I've shipped 3 GS-X's in the past week. I'm working through the list of orders, on all amps, and expect by the end of the summer i'll be caught up. Yours is one of the next 2 I have to build

Got the shipping notice for my GS-1 today!

Justin, can you please give us some kind of estimate/update on Gilmore Lite and dedicated power supply (by the end of the month, next month, end of summer)? People like me and panthermodem have been waiting for more than 4 months. What concerns me is not really the waiting but the lack of communication. I understand that you must be really busy with all those orders, but a rough estimate would be nice. Thank you.
