Mark,

I have no idea, but, I would bet it is the same pot.  Is the $415 something that one can actually pay and get that pot from a particular source?  If so, it should not be too hard to do the exchange on a dyi basis.  But, if that price represents a batch order for more than one pot, if the Japanese source will not sell to individual hobbyist in the US, etc., that price is largely hypothetical.  A few years ago, a friend tried to get that pot from a US source and pretty much gave up on the idea.  The US source was not interested in dealing with him unless he bought something like 50 pots (he was not into multichannel, certainly not that many channels).

The BHSE is fully balanced so you need a 4 gang attenuator.  It's twice as big and requires even further matching. The 4 gang version is around 870$ (depending on where the Yen is these days) and since everything has to be custom machined to fit this monster (8mm shaft for instance) the 1K$ price is a hell of a deal.  Most people do indeed order the RK50.

The $1,000 upgrade to the RK50 is a very good price, considering the part itself costs around $1,000 when bought in small quantities.

By the way, for those waiting for signs of build activity on the BHSE, I just recently got an e-mail from Justin inquiring about the kind of casework I want for my BHSE.  I am hoping this means that construction will be starting up soon on the next batch.

Yup Larry, yours is coming along pretty soon, I got a reply from him as well but mine won't be after two batches more, after yours.

Finished the next 4 BHSE this weekend - one of every color in the same place for the first time (black, gray, blue, silver).  This is actually the only blue one that has been built.  So the total is 16 of the original 20 have been completed, and of course I am building more after that.

Pardon me on this one, but I've seem to only recall seeing the silver (Birgir's), the black one and the blue black faceplate if i'm not wrong.

Which one is the grey one?

Since Justin reported finishing 4 BHSE's the weekend prior to the fifteenth, has anyone received their unit who was up next in the queue?  I am supposedly in that group, but, I haven't gotten anything or any word.
