What has everyone been getting in terms of tube life with this amp? I just destroyed a set of sed winged C in what had to be less than 400 hours. I'm guessing the voltage and heat are more intense than most amps.

can't say, but i've had no problem in the 3 years i've owned mine

Based on the date codes, SY0 and SY1, they are are Holland Made EL34, from 1950's, while the black base versions are later. Looks like they are very rare. See this page:

I think the black base versions are little earlier than the brown base. 1954-56 whilst the brown bases are 1956-57. I have quads of both types and find the black base version is a little more detailed whilst the brown base is a little warmer. YMMV. I found this on both the BHSE and the Woo WES.

Greetings,

I posted this some time ago.  Anyone can answer my question regarding fuses, number, rating, size, slow vs fast blow?

I placed 15 fuses in my main system - Audiomagic Beeswax and the improvement was not subtle.  Sound stage fell into focus.  This overall clarity is especially notable in the timber and decay.

Do you know the 4 fuse specs?  size, rating and blow speed?

With Appreciation...

Has anyone tried the Stefan AudioArt Endorphin Umbilical Power Cable for the BHSE. If so, what were your views on it ?

During CanJam Lonson last WK I spoke with Peter James from HeadAmp about It and he strongly believes that this Is pure bullsh__. :)

2 Input fuses at 2A slow blow
2 output fuses 0.2A fast blow

All are the small size (5x20mm from memory). This is for a UK 230v BHSE. I don't know if the input fuses will be different for other voltages.
I was very pleased with the SR Reds. I haven't tried the beeswax ones - too pricey for me.

You can try it and report back.  Honest, I also run an upgrade PSU cord on mine but I really didn't bother to compare it to the cheap power cord.  I also use high quality ICs on mine but the tube upgrade probably make most of the different for me.

Thanks for the info. Out of interest which power cord are you using ? I'm using the Lessloss DFPC Reference cord at the moment with a firewall module between it and the PSU.

If I get the Endorphin umbilical, I'll post my impressions of it.
