Headamp Blue Hawaii Special Edition

thanks Justin.  And how does it sound compared to the BHSE ?  What is the sound signature difference ?

The Aristaeus is actually in stock right now. i have 1x 115V and 1x 230V available. It is RCA input only. The circuitry converts to balanced using tubes. Balanced inputs would be a different amplifier.

Thanks for the clarification.
I'm curious as to know the sound-signature as well…nobodies ever heard one?

The amp was designed to be a Senn Orphius sounding amp as far as I have read about it. It is also lower voltage swing. It will thus probably be warmer and sweeter than the BHSE and maybe less dynamic. Though if you are interested in buying one I would ring Justin directly.

The BHSE seems to have taken the lion's share of sales, so that tells you something...

Search is your friend, there is actually a thread dedicated to the comparison. No I won't link to it, you guys need to learn to look for yourself. :p

I've a question about tubes I could have asked Justin by mail, but some other BHSE owners could answer me.

When I received it, there was no mention of pairing / this tube goes there. I just plugged them randomly, didn't check balance / offset since I've no voltmeter at home, and enjoyed the sound (immensely) as is. Am I right about that ?

Not sure I would encourage skipping the offset checks. I recall reading Justin numbered the tubes when he did shipped together with the amp. Maybe that is no longer required with the shuguang matched quads but I would not take a chance.

I agree. I would highly recommend buying a voltmeter. Because eventually you're going to need it when you replace tubes in your amp. It is also a good idea to periodically check the offset and bias.

As for the tubes I put in my amp, I just used a logical method. That is, numbering the tubes myself, left to right as they came out of the box. When I swap tubes I'm keeping track of where I put the tubes in the amp. Socket 1 is front left, socket 2 is rear left, socket 3 is front right, and socket 4 is rear right.

wouldn't get too worried about this.
I recently change from a match quads of Harmonix to a match quartet of NOS xf2 ....measured the thing and found no reason to re-do the adjustment.
a few volts on the output wouldn't ruin you listing pleasure ;o)

i stopped doing that because it didnt really matter that much
and the number of emails from people about to jump off a building because they didnt notice the numbers before putting the tubes in

Yep, that tells you there are far less HE90's available because the Aristaeus makes these phones sing, not so much with the BHSE.
