Sounds like Justin could have shipped earlier - with the crappy aluminum, and substandard color coating.  Now that would make everyone happy right?

Let the man do his job.  I think that he has provided information as it is available.  He has also mentioned many of the setbacks, and tribulations which end up causing big, unexpected delays.  He is also doing 2 large batches at the same time, so the folks that ordered early on the timeline are waiting the longest, and the later on folks are waiting the shortest.

But to be honest, it sounds like my polished silver fronted BHSE is what's holding everyone else up...

In fact, my main concern about my BHSE delivery date is that, when I finally get it, the model has become technically outdated, or that an important HI-FI maker (e.g. Stax) came up with an equivalent (in terms of performance) product for half the price (thanks to industrial resources) and a delivery time that wouldn't exceed 2 weeks!

I don´t worry about that.
The BHSE is not new on the market and will keep its statement as a very good headphoneamp.

I think its the only one, except the original stax amps, which is a hybrid.
The competitors (woo, malvalve, cavalliaudio...) cost almost the same or more.
As i know, amplification HighEnd nothing really really new happend the last years.

Just look how many BHSE are on the used market!

best regards

technology in this kind of high-end audio has been decreasing not increasing. it has become increasingly difficult to source the discrete parts to build these kinds of amplifiers, because their main applications (like CRT TVs) no longer exist. Plenty of parts though if i want to build a LCD screen onto the amp for no reason.

OK, Justin, this seems to be a strong argument. But I think the Chinese -and maybe the Russians- can produce the discrete parts you mention in large quantities and at a low price, with a satisfactory quality -consider, for instance, what they do with vacuum tubes West factories have phased out...

so far they have only done an outstanding job laser engraving expensive, discontinued part numbers onto cheaper parts. unless i am buying from a very reputable supplier i have to have all of my parts tested for authenticity due to the number of counterfeits out there now

I would gladly wait the time it takes for Justin to be satisfied with his work.  I'm more nervous about the effects of impatience on this process, and relieved to hear Justin's resolve to stay the course.  Please do.  Don't want any cheap parts in the BHSE, and no rush in its assembly.

Then just don't buy it.  For Stax to come up with something as good as the BHSE, the price tag will be way north of 8K with lesser quality parts.  Remember the original T2 amplifier that bankrupted Stax Japan?  It was retailed over 10K back in 1990.  I doubt that they will do anything like that again.  Justin's margin on his BHSE is very low given that the US government will take nearly half of his profit away.  You likely won't understand what I'm saying until you have a BHSE in your home.  It is handcrafted to perfection.  The visual aspects of the amp is strikingly beautiful.  Of course, it gets better when you turn it on.

I am posting because I want to help dispel the impression that those of us waiting for the current batch of BHSEs are all that discontent at the delay.  Yes, I have been waiting a while (since August 2012, longer than many, not as long as some), and yes, I would love for the wait to be over, but I can't say that I am upset that Justin has taken the time to make sure that all the parts are up to his standards.  Nor do I want him in any way to rush and possibly compromise the last stages of the fabrication.  I am happy to get it when he is satisfied that he is ready to ship it to me.
