One other question that sounds silly but you may be able to answer Birgir which is, with an adapter, could Stax headphones work via the Senn headphone socket and vice versa.
This is something I'll never try, but I'm just curious.

Yes, it will work but you will need a Stax to HE90 adapter.  My BHSE has both Stax & HE90 jack and I also have the Stax to HE90 adapter as well.  However, the Stax phones will sound better out of the Stax Pro outlet as the bias voltage is less on the HE90 socket.  So the Stax phones out of the HE90 socket will not be driven with the optimum voltage.

Thanks purk. As I said, I'll probably never try what I've ask, I was just interested to know.
In fact I'll never buy a Senn stats headphone, unless Sennheiser was to start building headphones like the HE-90 again, then I might be tempted.

Now that the ARISTAEUS is back in stock, could someone tell me how it's sound signature differ from the BHSE ?

Is it BHSE just better, or is it more a matter of different sound signature to meet different taste ?

As I recall reading these amps have nothing in common, the aristaeus having been designed to pair with original orpheus phone while the BHSE is a general purpose amp, mainly for stax phones.
In many years, I don't recall ever reading that the aristaeus was preferable to the BHSE for hard to drive Stax phones (omega series), unless one wanted to seriously alter the voicing of the phone.
I'd encourage reading posts scattered here and other place from ~ past 10 years, you should find a lot more useful info than shooting a question now I'd think.

Actually, bmichels, looks like you asked the same question in this very thread almost 4 years ago, do you ever buy gear and make your own opinion or are the eternally debating kind ?

I advise you search through your own previous posts and those from the kind fellows who tried to help you already many times before :)

thanks for finding for me my previous posts

What changed since 4 years is that I have made now a deposit for a BHSE, and waiting for it.  And this decision was based on my listening of BHSE + SR009 during Canjam London...

Glad to hear :).
I was uncertain about my choice during the wait for the BHSE because it was a blind purchase. I don't regret at all now... Fact is, even if you disliked it, you could always sell it back at virtually no loss.

Cheers,
Arnaud

I have been listening to the Aristaeus for the past month now and it is one heck of an amp. I agreed with many that it works really well with the SR009, though I still slightly preferred the weightier/punchier sound of the SR009 out of the BHSE + Holland EL34 XF4 tubes. The Aristaues takes the cake on the HE90 obviously. Love the amp and I hope others will get theirs before it will run out forever. Mine is Ari #18. Thanks again Justin for a very fine sounding amplifier. You continue to set the bar so high on both the sound and built quality department.

The upgraded power cable we introduced for the Blue Hawaii SE last year is now available for the Aristaeus as well. This will be greatly appreciated by Aristaeus owners for its light weight and flexibility as the old cord tends to yank the small Aristaeus amp off the table.. The price for the upgraded Aristaeus power cable is $299

Any improvements in sound quality over the stock cable? If so what kind of improvement?
