I really enjoyed my HE 400 for quite a while now. They've a really good bass which i love, and decent mids and highs.

However, one thing about their sound always bothered me. On some notes, i get a zingy after sound, and sometimes that can lead them to sound tinny.

I was wondering if the HE 500 fixes these problems, also does the audeze LCD 2.2 have these problems?

Yes.

The HE-400 is favored over the HE-500 for it's energetic signature. I see the potential to be a little stringy in the absolute highs when paired with a brighter source but if you don't like one, you always have the option of the other.

LCD-2.2 does not have anything really close to the same sound. It has the classic ortho wall of sound sensation but it's actually quite a different signature altogether. If you like the build of the HE-400, HE-500 is the progression of that. It dials the treble back so you can have a more full bodied sound so nothing really crosses the line sonically if that makes sense.
