HD800 vs HE500

You missed the K1000 port (not the speaker output)...that's the 4 pin XLR port that outputs it in the link I gave you. The WA5LE doesn't have this, but the WA5 DOES! Please see the attached link and this is well known of the WA5 amp.

No, that is incorrect, again, look at the actual product page of the WA5.

Sorry, you're still wrong:

and

Both are links on the Woo website. The new one is very confusing in this regard, but us "old time" Woo owners (though I'm not one anymore) know this very well.

Read the manual. It is a very well known feature of the amp. Trust me, this isn't my first time to the Woo rodeo here. The K1000 port outputs the 8W into 120ohms through the 4 pin XLR. I've listed 2 links on the Woo website and on the Woo thread, it's all over there. So YES, David Mahler has heard the HE-6s are their best and his judgment is more than fair IMO.

Does that mean you're upgrading to the HD598's better value that you used to enjoy?

 Just kidding.

Hmm... I think I've just started to like this thread.

I still have a pair of HD558's that I did the remove black foam mod. Since they don't leak sound no where as much as my HD600's or HE-500's I can take them to the office. I wouldn't want to take the latter two on a daily commute and risk damaging them, even though I have protective cases for them.

Sadly the new Woo website is a bit unclear of the K1000 port, but I've provided 2 links (also on the Woo website) to show that the K1000 port is a special feature that outputs 8W into 120 ohms (for the very inefficient K1000 headphones).

Well, It's not me that's wrong. It's the specs on either one that is wrong. Which is the real one? Plus, there's the same wattage into 120ohms, as there is 8 ohms? There is definitely something not right there. I do not take that at face value, sorry.

Sorry, correct, you're not wrong...the website right now isn't fully clear (it's confusing). The older one had this plainly laid out for the K1000 port. Now you have to dig on the Woo site a bit. But again, those 2 links I provided are from Woo Audio and as mentioned, over on the Woo thread (if you swing on over), this port and the power output is a very well known feature. Nothing new and surprising.

I would venture there, but only if you can link me an actual measurement done on K1K port.

EDIT: Actually, i think the website is fully clear it they made a correction.

A call to Woo Audio is in order.

You're kidding with actual measurements right? For measurements, you'll have to talk to the manufacturer,  but I did link you the Woo amp comparison pdf on their website that clearly states through the K1000 port, the WA5 outputs 8W into 120ohms. Are you saying Woo Audio is lying?

David Mahler and Frank I are both good friends and have a lot of experience with the HE-6s on various amps. Have you heard the WA5/HE6 combo?

No, I am not kidding about a measurement lol. Since when did 8w @8ohms = 8w at 120ohms? No, I am not saying they're lying, I am saying they made a mistake. That's fine if you guys think 1.5w (or 8w...lol) at 3% distortion is end-game, but not for me. No I haven't heard it, and it's pretty clear it's 1.5w, unless Woo found a way to defy some electrical laws and is actually getting that 8w at 8 ohms into 120 ohms...and that is highly unlikely.
